Before I start, I am just going to say I in no way am trying to put down Guitar Hero players, and these are all strictly my opinions and what I thought.

I didn't think the game was that great. I played it for half an hour, and maybe that isn't enough time, but from what I played I just found it boring. My friends talk about how much they like it (and all of my friends have this dreadful garage band that makes me want to drag and drop my life into the recycle bin) Maybe I just need to spend more time with it, but from my first impression off of it I didn't like it. I didn't like the characters, and I didn't like how it looked. The music, to me, was so-so. Some good songs, some I really didn't like.

Oh, and I lol at the people that jump up and down and headbang while playing their little plastic guitar at Best Buy.

I can't say I hate the game, it's fun and I enjoy playing from time to time, but to me it's too easy. People kept telling me OMG YOU'LL NEVER PASS COWBOYS FROM HELL EXPERT, IT'S SOOOOO IMPOSSIBLE...

...2nd try, I beat it with 83%.

Since I love Guitar Freaks, I found GH to be fun, but I got tired of it pretty fast, mostly because I get tired from playing for like 5 minutes straight, and repetitions just bore me after a while. I think GF has the equation down better since even long versions of songs cut 5 minute songs down to 3, 3 1/3 so they're bearable but not boring and repetitive.

The interface and overall feel of the game also seems sloppy...I understand the look they're going for, but it still just doesn't feel polished.

I'm waiting to see how they're going to work this up to GH2, but the fact that people bash on other Bemani games, especially claiming other games are rip-offs of GH (oh lord, especially when I hear GF ripped off GH)...that just makes me not want to like GH that much more.

I only played one song on GH at Best Buy, and I thought it was decent fun. I didn't like the fact that the songs are all covers, and not so great covers at that. I played "Take Me Out" And I wanted to rip off my ears. However, it was still fun, I would like to get GH2 when it comes out. I think GF looks more challenging though, and I would rather play that. Any guitar simulator game is bound to be easy when one plays a real guitar though.

Yeah, I have to say I don't enjoy Guitar Hero as much as I do other bemani games. They're fun and all, but I don't see whats so amazing about Guitar Hero. Its a fun game, thats true, but there are a few things that annoy me about it. One, its either you got the note or you didn't, there's no incentive to get your timing right. Maybe I'm mistaken and there's something else in there, but as far as I saw, it was just good or bad. Then there's the 3D interface. As much as everyone likes it, I hate it with a passion. I think there's something to be said for notes to scroll up or down, and not towards you. Its not that bad, but what I really mind how when I play that game for extended periods of time, when I look away from the TV or during the menus, everything looks like its slowly sliding up, since I'm used to things sliding down. I think if the notechart didn't have a background behind it that scrolled too it'd make it better, right now it just almost makes me dizzy.

Just like any dancing simulator game is bound to be easy when one can actually dance?

Isn't it when you play a real guitar, it's not measured by precision?

Guitar Hero tried to make it realistic in that way. The music of course, is your opinions, though I admit I don't want to play Take Me Out more than maybe one time every week. There were people at Fry's playing that song so many times over and over.

I'd like to hear the logic behind this.

...do I need to say more, CStar?

I personally love what Guitar Hero has potentially done. I, too, think it's a BIT overrated, but the fact that it's gotten a crapload of people into rhythm games is a plus. Kinda like DDR when Konami actually started making it not-impossible to find games and pads.

Sure, you're going to have people that annoy the hell out of you (like the examples above), but you'll have that in every grouping. Ever go to an anime convention? You just MIGHT swear off anime after you're done. E15.gif

With that said...I completely respect valid opinions of people who hate the game or say it's overrated. Carry on. happy.gif

While I've never played Hero or Freak, I'd perfer Freak for its awesome music.....that need to be on DDR......& brought over here. But I doubt it'll have a good reputation due to the fact Hero came out over here 1st so the average american gamer will think Freak is just a clone of Hero despite the fact it's older by like, 7 years or more......

It's called a joke, guys.
But seriously though anyone who can tolerate such an easy game, and then proceed to insult superior games such as GF, makes me sick.

Games aren't always about difficulty, y'know. If that were the case, all games today would be crap, and I'd go back to playing Ninja Gaiden and Battletoads on my NES.

I like Guitar Hero. It's pretty fun, it's got a lot of character, and the music is perfect for the game that it is. I actually prefer that sort of songlist in a guitar game over dozens of Japanese songs I've never heard of.

My first impression of it was : Hey this is kind of fun.

Now it's just boring... I don't actually own it.... but it just fails to keep my interest.... but a LOT of music games did that well too.... like...

DDR MAX2 (CS)
DDR Extreme (AC/PS2)
DDR Extreme USA (PS2)
DDR Extreme 2 (CS)
DDR Ultramix 3 (CS)
In the Groove (AC/PS2)
In the Groove 2 (AC)
Pump it Up Premiere 3 (AC)
Pump it Up PREX3 (AC/PC)
Beatmania USA (CS)
Beatmania Core Remix (AC)

These games are on this list because they became boring to me in a month or less... not trying to offend anyone... thats just how I feel about those titles...
