im really retarded when t comes to installing programs on linux that arent on the package list.Pydance is crap compared to SM so i want it. somebody please STEP-BY-STEP (no pun intended) tell me how to do it

btw i have ubuntu dapper drake

Mexistache, do you have the NVidia drivers installed? From the looks of it, it's a graphics card driver issue. I haven't installed Stepmania on here yet (I also run Ubuntu) but I'll give it a shot though soon and see if I can pinpoint your problem.

edit: http://www.ubuntugames.org/stepmania another guide (in spanish) but the commands are all in english.

T mexi: check your xorg.conf to make sure your glx module is loading.

Gentoo here so I'm not all that familiar with Ubuntu's auto-install nor the current state of deb packaging (haven't used debian since 2003)

usually an sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx does the trick, it just needs to be enabled. instructions are over at http://www.ubuntuguide.org.

whenever i tried to install the video driver, it says the the x servers are not compatible with my x server version. arrg i will not let this die
