I just downloaded StepMania and I know that it doesn't come with any songs. The site gives you lots of places to get music and I browsed a few and couldn't find much.

Can anyone give me a site/some sites where I can get most or all of the DDR music from? Sorry if I'm sounding like a newb here, I'm just not familiar with the program.

Okay, I have no idea what 'simfile' means, nor what anything involving Stepmania means, so calm down. I know there are stickies and I noticed one that might help me after I made this, so sorry about that. But I really need some help. I downloaded a torrent of Extreme, but I don't really know how to use BitTorrent either. frown.gif

If it's a zip or rar, unzip it and put the folder (labeled DDR Extreme, with folders for songs INSIDE... the name of the folder will be the name of the "mix") inside your Program Files\StepMania\Songs.

How can I set up my RO3 to work with SM? I have songs now, and I want to use my pad. When I test input, the presses show up, but it says everything is 'Not Mapped' and I'm a bit confused about how to map.

start up sm, go to options, theres something in there about button mapping (i don't remember how it's worded on the default theme)

Yes, I found that and I've looked through it. But I don't know how to map my RO3, only the keyboard.

EDIT: Oh joy, I just mapped 'Enter' as up. How can I fix that?

if you highlight one of the blank spaces and hit enter, you should be able to map a button on your pad to that command by hitting it on the pad.

Okay, I've got most of the buttons mapped. But when I try to map down, nothing happens, like it won't register. And when I actually go to play, it seems like there's a lot of lag.

It probably has something to do with the pad. If you have another pad and/or adapter, test it for lag. I have an EMS USB2 with a CF, and I think I had a little bit of random lag and greats(although I'm blaming it on my crappy computer). Try closing all programs or restarting before playing.

Okay, it's plugged in via USB, correct? If you're using Windows, go to your Control Panel, and Game Options/Controllers. Test the controller and see if the down button works there. I guess other operating systems would have similar options.

It's not the pad, because I went and tested it on my PS2 and it works fine there. When I get back from my vacation I will try testing it on the computer. E1.gif

yes, but redoctane pads have always been buggy with that extra port for xbox and PC....so you should test it on xbox if you get the chance.

I don't know anyone with an XBox and a copy of Ultramix. I'll just keep playing around with it.

Okay, you should still check in the Gaming/Controller options, because it's probably the adapter/usb plug or something.

I'd recommend that you use a new PS2->USB adapter, because I've heard that RO pads have problems with the non-PS2 ports.
