Im gonna mod my tx1000 and I have some questions about the lexan you use for the arrows. Is it expensive for the 1/8 in. stuff? Arent the origonal panels lexan already? is it hard to cut? Will it really improve the arrows? thanx E1.gif

idk how much lexan is. the tx1000 arrows are acrylic plastic which is weak. you would've found that out if you read the product description for it. lexan is stronger than acrylic so you wont have cracking arrows after you make your own lexan panels.

plan on spending around 6-12 dollars per arrow depending on the size you use. TX-1000 pads will fit anything between 1/8" to 1/4" lexan. If you use 1/4" you'll want to create a new sensor system as well as it will feel much more like the arcade.

lexan is a much stronger plastic then acrylic. I think its actually bullet proof. Anyways yes it is hard to cut...... very hard ....... and yes its expensive. anyways good luck on modding your pad.

Lexan is a GE's name brand of polycarbonate resin. For a given thickness, it is stronger than acrylic. It has been used for space helmets, and more recently to shrink devices like cell phones and notebook computers by replacing bulky plastics with thinner Lexan components. It is not inheritly bullet-proof - in fact thinner Lexan components shatter quite easily (Cambro brand food storage containers are an example an I know for a fact they break biggrin.gif ) It can be cut with a saw like any other plastic. You may want to head over to mymybox.com where they sell 12mm arrows already cut and colored - not sure if they are Lexan but 12mm is fairly thick.

It's not. Bullet-proof is a figure of speech. My dad found some "bullet-proof" glass and put a few .22 rounds though it. Imagine what some determined sniper could do shooting at the bullet-proof glass on a limo. It would be like glass.

Anyways, definatly get lexan, its good stuff, very tough. Don't use plexiglass, its not the same thing at all. Plexiglass does bad things lexan won't, like crack. I have a plexiglass window on my PC and its cracked from the factory screws. :/

I just replaced the arrows on my TX1000 with lexan.
1. Buy the lexan plates from your local hardware store. I bought 11x12 inch sheets for about $3.50 each.
2. Score about 10 times against a straight edge and then break off the excess piece.
3. Print out the arrows off the computer and glue them to the back of each arrow. I used a cheap spray-on adhesive.
4. I put a thin layer of insulation on the back of each arrow. This helps improve the durability of the sensors and is a little bit softer on the feet.
5. Put foil tape on the back on the arrow and put everything back in place.
