ITG has had a broad selection of songs in the dance/rock genres, but what about rap? There is only a few songs in the ITG series that can be classified as hip-hop, but I think that since rap is gaining worldwide popularity and is known for urban freestyle dancing, there should be at least a few rap songs in the game to mix things up a bit. Yeah, screwed/chopped rap songs just grind, but even a low BPM and hands-based stepcharts could add to the challenge. What do you think of rap in ITG?

Music Pleeze sounds like Eminem to me. I like to play the Hard Doubles chart for it...

D-Code sounds like a rap instrumental, not to mention it sounds quite a bit like 50 Cent's In Da Club. Of course, it's my least favorite Dust Devil song due to its low bpm, so why bother with rap, anyway? They'd probably only be able to get good stepcharts if they threw in a bunch of Twista songs, and that would most certainly be selling out.

I mean, it would be cool to find songs by artists like G-Unit, Z-Ro, 6 Mafia, 2Pac, and Li'l Jon & the Eastside Boys and screwed albums like Screwston in ITG.

Yeah i was thinking some actual GOOD rap artists would be cool. Maybe some old-school rap would be really cool. MC Frontalot just doesn't cut it...

I doubt that RoXoR would license any of those artists. Thank god too. biggrin.gif

D-Code is more swing music than anything else.

i personally hate rap, but there's a few songs out there that could lend themselves to some interesting charts.

I resisted for a while, but I must point this out. As a jazz pianist and award winning jazz singer (whether you believe me or not, it is true), D-Code is not "swing" music.

Technically, no music is called "swing" Swing is a feel that jazz and some blues has, it bases itself on the triplet and puts emphasis on syncopation.

I know what your thinking, D-Code has triplets. Unfortunately, these are 24ths. This means the contain 8th notes...which means the song is "straight" as opposed to "swung"

The entire song doesn't even have a swing feel to it anyway, straight 8ths in the beat, constant use of 16ths (Yeah, like that's a swinging thing to do laugh.gif)

I can see why you made your mistake, but this is not set in a swing feel. It really is more of an urban joyride-type song.

I think not because nobody ever plays his songs. Of course, none of his songs have Expert stepcharts, repelling hardcore fans. He's a better choice than most other rappers because his songs' content is significantly cleaner than that of your tipical hip hop artist, but it really seems like nobody cares much about him and that he'll most likey vanish by ITG 4.

Well, while not being rap songs in and of themselves, both of the Spacekats songs have rap segments in them.

Man, I miss that group (though not necessarily for the aforementioned rap segments).
