|
Right, I'm not sure whether to categorize this as elaborate fake or leaked plans, but here's the scoop...
Joystiq is reporting that Burger King is planning some sort of promo with XBox 360 games, which are slated to sell for $4-5. This info comes from an (unintentionally?) publicly posted FAQ from Equity Marketing's site
Equity Marketing wrote: | Why are we selling video games?
Video gaming is the fastest growing form of entertainment. Video games appeal to broad demographics, and especially the BURGER KING® Super Fan.
This type of promotion has never been done before creating huge buzz potential for BK® restaurants, helping to drive sales and traffic.
BK⢠Xbox® Video Games have a strong and long-lasting branding effect for BURGER KING®. Customers playing the game interact deeply with the BK® brand and its key icons and discuss the game with friends, colleagues and family. This represents an enormous âadvertising valueâ for BK® in terms of consumer impressions â never before achieved with any SLO in our category.
...
What is the recommended price to consumer?
The recommended consumer price is $3.99 with the purchase of a Value Meal, including a 20-25% franchisee mark-up. This price point has been validated by BKCâs consumer research and is pending the Show of Support results for this promotion.
Standard Xbox® video games with similar graphics and game play retail between $20 and $50. A $3.99 price to consumers, with the purchase of a Value Meal, represents an unprecedented value.
...
How many games does the collection have?
Three games from the best selling genres make up the BK⢠Xbox® Video Game Collection.
All games are delivered in Xbox® and Xbox 360⢠compatible formats on one disc, and come in Xbox 360⢠retail packaging.
One new game will be delivered to restaurants every week during the first three weeks of the promotion, and all three titles will be available during the last weeks of the promotion.
|
However, the real kicker is this part of the FAQ:
Equity Marketing wrote: | Is there going to be a BURGER KING® Kids promotion in restaurants at the same time?
There will be a concurrent BK® Kids promotion in restaurant featuring Dance Dance Revolution premiums based on the musical video game series.
The premiums are themed to dancing, music and gaming, which follows the interactivity of the property.
The Dance Dance Revolution kids program will be at BURGER KING® restaurants from December 04 to December 31, 2006.
FOR communications for this Kids Meal program are planned to be shared with franchisees on April 13, 2006. |
No idea whether these premiums will be 360-exclusive - or even videogame related at all - but be on the lookout for this this holiday season.

Kinda funny, i was the Burger king for halloween for a party (Yes, Mask & Robes & all...) and played DDR there in full costume (Hard to move, but Do-Able).
If i were to enter into a freestyle competition or something that involved costumes i was gonna be the burger king, too...Man, companies take all my good ideas... _________________

Here's to hoping that they make little dancing character figurines!
Speculation if they do: Who do you think they'd pick out of the 345908237590823776 characters that exist in DDR? _________________

They could be test demos for the next Generation games with like two songs like The KR party demo and DDR Ex2 demo. That would suck.
Or they could set up a buncha pads at a Burger King with a ______ (insert console name on blank line) and the kids could play these games for that very expensive $4-$5 price and make millions off little kids wanting to play "that dance game". _________________

Except it was an ItG-converted machine with no bars. And there were two. And he wasn't actually dancing, rather just being stupid. |

Yeah there is a calculator version of DDR you can download. It's just arrows and no music. That's what this will probably end up like. |
