Welcome to DDRFreak. First, you may want to post this in the appropriate regional forum, you're more likely to get responses from other people in New York.
On the top of the page, there are a few links you should try out as well. Machine Locations can help you find other machines in your area, and there are many FAQs on Freestyling. _________________

My question is, when Coney Island closes during fall and winter, where do the rest of you guys play? I dont have my pad anymore and the neighbors complain when I do, so where are some good places to play?
Also, any good tips on freestyling? I'm a newb to it and wanna learn |
I have the SAME EXACT PROBLEM!
I play at a local Water PArk and when they close for the off season, Im DDR machine-less.
HOME VERSIONS FTW! |

I believe he said his neighbors complain when he plays at home.
Another good idea is to check the Machine Locations at the main page. Maybe you can find a place closer that's open all year. _________________

Your lucky I live in NY and can answer your question before I lock this.
Most of the NY players in Brooklyn end up going to Manhattan to play. I believe the only place in Brooklyn to play all year is Pixels which is off the R train. Otherwise, you are looking at Chinatown, Port Authority or Lazer Park (there are other places).
As for freestyling, check out some dance videos (not DDR videos, dance videos) and try to mimic some moves. Evenually make your own style and encorperate it on the pad.
For all other NY related questions, refer to the New York regional forum. Locked. _________________
