does the background video have to be a certain format?

ok well does the background video for stepmania have to be in a certain format, because i have 2 videos in the random video folder and only 1 works. also id like to know if its possible to assign only one video to a perticular song. i have a music video to the song im making a simfile for and i want to put it on for this song and this song only. (it also happens to be the video that doesnt work, the other video is just a live performance of the same song but the movements and singing etc in the video dont match up with the singing in the song so i want to change it to the offical music video.)

Both AVI and MPG filetypes should work in stepmania.
