This week, my mom's friend is coming back from a trip from Japan & we asked her to see if she could find Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!. Now, Beatmania just came out, so I wanna get that. BUT, if she DID get Ouendan, I have to get Ouendan cuz I only have $50 (I have an extra $10 in Gamestop & $15 in Sam Goody, making a total of either $60 or $65). But my parents are like "Save that money for driver's training!" cuz I'll be old enough in about 3 monthes. So I'm thinking:

A.)Get Ouendan, even if she doesn't get it & save the rest.

B.)Get Beatmania.

C.)Save it for Drivers Training.

So which should I do?

a) How often does your mom's friend go to japan? Any other ways of getting it?

b) It's here to stay for a while. If you're thinking about other things, get those. Beatmania is just gonna go down in price in a couple month anyways.

c) You want to know how to drive... You need to....

She's just going there for the 1st time for a trip. I doubt she'll go again. But I'm thinking if she didn't get it, I'll go & get Beatmania later today. Although that price-drop sounds nice......Maybe I'll get Ouendan online (any place cheap?) & then save the rest for Drivers Training.....Then again, I LUV video games...

Ouendan will cost you about $50 online. You could check eBay for good deals, but I don't think you'll find anything really low.

Nothing compares to a license, at all. Id save it on the license if I were you. However you could give her the money and tell her if she sees a rare game (like Beatmania 4th style) or sees Ouendan REALLY cheap (like 10 bucks) to pick it up. But I wouldn't use all the money on a video game if you have to save for driving lessons.

I disagree. I'm finishing my first year in college, and since I have had my driver's license there has been absolutely no need for it, other than as a secondary form of identification. There has never been a situation where traveling from point A to point B and back to A has been dependant on my legal ability to drive. [/off topic]

For the original topic, I vote Beatmania.

It depends on your situation. If you're the kind of person who goes any kind of long distances (whether to school, work, what have you) then you'll want to be able to drive. However, if you live close to everything you need, screw the lisence and get something you'll use.

But how long will you be putting driving off if you buy a game? $50 can't be that hard to earn back.

I get about $5 a week. I DO live about 3 miles outside of town...& I'll be old to take DT in about 3 months (14 & 9 months)....

Nothing is lamer than the kid who rolls up to the party being driven by his parents. Sure if you have friends that can drive they might help you out, but I know I'd get tired of having to pick the same guy up just because hes too lazy/broke to get his license

Not everyone feels the requirement to go to parties. Of course, this is diverging from the original topic. As CStar implies, it will probably be easy to recover the money of a video game. Besides, there's no requirement that you take driving training the split second you're old enough.

I got it from YesAsia.com for $34.99; about $38 after taxes with free shipping. It arrived in less than a week.

I strongly recommend Ouendan, and getting it from them. Ouendan's a much more one-of-a-kind experience.
Quick to pick up on, and gets insanely difficult later on, much like Beatmania.

It's still not an easy choice to make though. That's why I'd say get both however you can. :)

Alright. After some "you gotta take responcabilities" speech & a trip to the Midland mall later (DANG, they're closing Suncoast, so they wouldn't accept my $15 gift card I won....& I was gonna get a Samurai Champloo hat or Trigun bobblehead....), here's what I'm gonna do:

1.)See if the lady got Ouendan
2.)If she did, pay & save rest for DT
3.)If not, trade more games for money w/ $10 I already have at GS
4.)Get BM & save rest for DT.
5.)Get PWNED by BM.
6.)Brag about the awesome new game I've got.

I'm gonna go ahead and agree with sexy lady avatar guy here. Someone should probably note that this happened. We have a "great" transit system here, and with insurance and gas being what they are, you couldn't pay me to get a car at this point. If someone gave me a free car, I'd sell it. It's a thorough money sink, and I'll do without it. So because I'm not blowing my entire paycheque on gas, insurance, and car payments, I'm free to buy or not buy Ouendan and Beatmania anytime I please. My most expensive bill tends to be the customs charges on the huge boxes of loot I continuously order online. :p

PS. I'm getting Beatmania, but moreso because I need a controller while I wait for "the big one" from Ransai to be completed. Ouendan looks neat, but I'll probably get it later. Not really interested in it now.

Change of plans! After getting $42 from Gamestop from trading 4 games, I've got $52 in store credit, therefore, only needing to spend about $15 in real money, leaving me w/ about $45. Therefore, if I mom isn't making me save it, I can get BOTH Beatmania & Ouendan!! W00T!
