Usually I just make steps for simfiles that were previously made, but their steps suck/aren't in sync.

Well, I just made my first stepfile to a song from scratch, and I made the banner and backround, but I am having these problems.

1. The song doesn't stop at the end. The arrows just keep flashing to the rhythm while no song plays.

2. The Backround isn't showing. I just get the Stepmania sign in the backround. The Banner is working fine though...

Thanks for the help

1) Make sure you delete any extra charts that you don't intend to be there. This includes doubles, couple, and solo charts. If you copied the DWI from some other song without wiping the steps clean first, this might be the problem. Decide whether you're going to use the DWI (better for DDR style charts) or the SM (for charts with mines, eg ITG) file. Then delete the rest, including the .OLD files. You don't need those.

2) Background images should be saved as the same name as everything else, but with "-bg" added to the end. So if your song is called "Xepher", Xepher-bg.png.

You can also configure this manually in the DWI/SM file.

I had this problem with my 80s mix entry. You need to go to the folder the song is in. There should be a sm and a dwi file. You need to delete the sm but keep the dwi.

Then you go back into Stepmania Edit Mode, press escape and choose Reload From Disk. Then go ahead and save the song.

After that it should stop at the end, granted there are no other difficulties with extra steps after the song.
