I didn't get any replies in the Afterburner thread, so I'm posting here. What should I do for modding an Afterburner? Should I only replace the contacts or is there something else I need to do? And finally, are there any alternatives to modding with sheet metal for the contacts?

BTW, I don't have the Afterburner yet, but I'm prolably going to get it this summer when I start working. My dad does not support DDR very much, so I might have to do it alone.

How would you want to mod the pad? Wouldn't it be just fine as is?

one of my buddies modded his afterburner because inside, the plywood used is so dense that it ends up tiring even a seasoned player after a few songs. He ended up putting a less-dense plywood in there, and it works for him.

Foil Contacts..... try it a few times. If it craps out, THEN mod it.

Well I just horribly mutilated my AB, the left arrow went all kinds of dead. I have already ascertained much infomation on how it works and curciutry. All I don't know now is how to troubleshoot wheter or not this problem is my pad or my cbox, because in this horribly mutilated form, i can manually trigger everything except for the left arrow. Any help would be much appriceiated.

just check the soldering. when u were busy mutilating your pad u might of screwed up your soldering on the sensor. And for the modding, i measured the foil sheets on the arrows, and then cut silver sheets the correct dimensions for all the arrows. (silver is the best conductor). Then i bought 26guage sheet metal and put it over the sheet of silver on each arrow. I also put the sheet metal on with spray on adhesive. I DID NOT spray the adhesive on the silver contact rather i covered the sheet with a paper towel and went around the contact. I then attatched the sheet metal to each arrow. PS: Make sure the sheet metal covers the entire arrow.

Could you get some pictures of this? It shounds very interesting. How far recessed are the arrows now? Do you find your feet hitting the corner and middle panels now?

My afterburner's arrows cracked pretty soon after I got it, but it's just an annoyance with socks, no big issue. Umm, lots of questions. Are they made of plexiglass, and how well do the arrow replacements on the red octane online store work with the pad if anyone has tried that? Also, that transparent lining on top of the arrows, did you guys rip that off or leave it on. Finally, holding down X or O is a problem some times and I don't always get to the mod screen, did any of you do anything to fix this?
