Okay so I only have 340 songs in my stepmania, but when I play it I get lag when scrolling through the song list, and it often crashes during songs or when scrolling.
Is this a bug, glitch, hardware conflict with my laptop?
Dont diss my box its not bad
-Pentium M 2.0
--1gig PC5300
--Radeon X700 128mb dedicated
--100gig hard drive
--I think it could be because of the resolution difference? (I use 1680x1050 for desktop and SMM seems to be in 640x480 - 800x600\
anyone know why its crashing?
Seems to work fine now that I uped SMM resolution to 1280x960 on windowed mode. |

Doesnt make sense considering I can easily push Q4, Doom 3, and all others with no lag.
Now that I uped the res its all working fine, it must have just been because the card had to stretch it over such a large distance (640*480 to 1680x1050) |

Its not a PII. Its a Pentium M 2.0, which is I believe a laptop CPU.
And thats interesting to know, Ko5. Ive never experience what youve had happen, but its good to know its fixed! _________________

Thanks, lol yeah I wasnt sure what he meant by Pentium 2, but I figured maybe the Pentium M series ran of a P2 core, coming to think of it thats not possible with its L1 and L2 caches.
Yeah I dunno I guess its a pretty stupid mistake I overlooked because I didnt know the graphics settings for stepmania was so far down (and not in appearance). But I guess it makes logical sense, the image had to be stretched over 2 1/2 times its size and with that flow of arrows and movement, to keep up that projection rate ... well my x700 couldnt take it lol. |

Yeah, I dont want to turn this into a whole "I told you so" thing, but The Pentium M is not a Pentium II. The whole 2.0 probably threw him off, but Im assuming it refers to the clock frequency, which would be 2.0 Ghz. A Pentium M is pretty much just a low power P4 all rigged for the lappy.
Anyways, Ive never had StepMania freak out over this before. What graphics card (for a lack of a better term, since Im probably assuming its integrated into the board) did it come with? _________________

Lol hardly a lack of one.
I have an ATI Mobile Radeon X700 16x PCI-Express Dedicated 128mb
Oh and for all the nonsense reboot answers you obviously didnt read the post, kept happening over and over, but now I fixed it-- its cause im on a WXSGA screen not a regular XGA. |
