|

Hey everyone, this is my very first post on these forums.
I've been thinking about getting into DDR for a while now. Mainly, I want to try to get into shape with it. Since all I do with my spare time is game, I thought this would be a logical decision. So my first question is, would I actually be able to lose weight if I play DDR a lot? Because, after all, you are jumping around the entire time.
Next, I hear that pretty much all the cheap foam pads break after only a short amount of use. So, I thought I would spring for a metal pad. However, I don't want to have to pay $300 for a good metal pad, so I looked to eBay. I found this pad, called a Ninja.
Here's the link: Ninja
Do you guys think it is worth getting? The guy sells like a million of them every day, so I figured it would be brand new. |

Yeah, I was actually gonna get one of those Ninja pads (they are actually called tx5000s I think), But I found a TX-6000 at lik-sang.com for the same price. So check lik-sang and playasia, because usually you can get them cheaper there then on ebay _________________

I checked out lik-sang.com and the price was the same as one ebay. But the cost of shipping was $110 (more than the pad). But I couldn't find any metal pads on play-asia.com. I think I have to get it off ebay, because the cost of shipping is only $60. |

I would suggest holding off on buying a metal pad for a while. If you're brand new to DDR, a cheap soft pad will hold up just fine. You can get one for only about $20, and if you like it, great, get a metal pad. If you don't, it's only $20 lost, not $300.
And yes, you most definately can lose weight with DDR. Check out www.getupmove.com, it's a website dedicated to using DDR to lose weight. _________________

Yeah, I think I'll get a cheap one first. But, if I do get into DDR, which I hope I do, would you recommend getting that metal pad I linked to? |

I've never heard of that pad. Looks pretty though. I hear the Cobalt Flux is very very good (and pricey, at that). |

I'd also recommend getting a cheap softpad first. Then, if you think you're gonna be in for the long haul, getting a Cobalt Flux is really worth it, expensive as it may be. _________________

Well, I just got back from Gamestop, where I picked up a $20 pad and a game called In The Groove. The songs are pretty cheesy but the game is fun. Depending on when the pad gives out, I'll either buy another one or maybe invest in a metal pad. But wow, it's a workout. |

If you want a somewhat affordable foam pad, the intec DDR pads with dense foam inserts are good. They can withstand heavy mode without ripping, they don't move around much if at all (doing Burning Heat! and Tsugaru on heavy multiple times in a row from me. ) and the arrows are raised so you can feel where they are... best part is, they are fairly cheap. I got mine for $40 (compared for the R.O ignition/knockoffs going from $54+ each)
If you plan to get really good, but don't want to go to the metal just yet, this is a great compromise of a pad. |

What! First of all, we ALL know about ITG. And second of all, there is nothing cheesy about that game! How can you NOT like those songs?! They are way less cheesy than ddr songs! Just play a 12 or 13 and tell me it's "cheesy" ...Im sorry. I guess if u r knew to the game and you have a different taste in music that's fine _________________
