Help Me With my dance pad mods!

allright....so i got a PS2 finally about 5 months ago and i had an xbox and some ignition i got on ebay and it wouldnt work on xbox but it would for PS2. SO it worked and now it's starting to poop-out on me. Soooo, i thought instead of taking another ebay ignition i'll just pick up a soft pad at best buy with a 2 year warrenty and try to mod it so if i mess up i can just take it back. Problem is, i'm not the most handy person and the world and would like one of you experienced modders to teach me your ways. also, i'm playing all heavy, so i want the best pad for modding. Will the mad catz work? I used to have one for xbox, but i didn't mod it and played on carpet so i sold it to a friend for $20(tehe!). Someone tell me an affective way to mod PLEASE!! if you do, i will be greatful like i am to all my fellow ddrers that help me with my problems. SHOW ME THE WAY!!

I am not a mod but i have not really heard much good about mad catz pads to tell the truth.
I also have a soft pad on carpet and i put a board under it and it works great i went from not getting ten percent to a triple A or two stars depending on which game DDR/ITG.

The only thing i like about Best buy is they have the warrenties even though i have had two they didnt honor even though it was a manufactuer(sp) defect
