Plaguefox sends us word that Roxor has announced the first official North American tournament for In The Groove, running through the end of the year with the final competition to be held in Las Vegas in the second week of January '06. Any arcade with In The Groove (1, 2-Boxor, 2-Dedicated) can participate in the local level. For details, read the entire post. Time to get practicing!

In The Groove® North American Tournament 2005

Roxor Games is proud to announce the start of the In The Groove® North American Tournament 2005. The first level of competition, Local Tournaments, are organized and hosted by individuals and arcades across the US and Canada. Any arcade that has an In The Groove upgrade kit, In The Groove 2 upgrade kit, or Pump It Up: In The Groove 2 dedicated cabinet may qualify as an official Local Tournament location.

Hopefully there will be a "Hard" division because I wouldn't stand a chance on Expert division.

Yeah it looks like everyone will just be lumped together... I wish there was a Hard division as well, as I can just whore Bend Your Mind, but I can't pass most Expert songs (like, anything 10 or above =\)

Does the arcade have to know about this? And I know that most of the time, it's yes; however, the one ITG2 machine near me, the arcade staff are pricks when it comes to events (gotta have minimum $1 million insurance policy, sign waivers, etc., which is why they've never had a tournament there). So I was wondering if we can do ours under the radar and still be OK.

Rest of it sounds great.

Dayum. Sux for all of us, I guess. I'll try something to use some muscle to get the arcade to budge.

You can have as many locals as you want... the Regionals come second, and it's the best out of the local bunches... doesn't matter how many.

Double Elimination, Single Play...drat; no doubles. frown.gif

I'm already predicting the SE top 3 for NC: FEP, JBoy, Darksyde. I only have an outside shot because I can probably beat JBoy on Bubble Dancer Hard...but that won't be enough.
