continued from this post http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=113350

fairly new to ddr and i got the soft official konami pad that came with the bundle, just tryin it out at first at seeing that i really like it - i want to get another pad for 2 player
however, this time i want to try to get a metal or at least a hard pad
as ive heard, theres none too great for 50-100 but what would be the best at around 150?

not really willing to spend 300 for a cf yet

The Intec Arcade Dance Platform is a surprisingly good pad for under $150. You can find them at Toys R Us. There is also a thread about it here.

just play on a soft pad until you are willing to pay 300 for a cf. It will be cheaper in the long run.

Dude, get the official Konami Deluxe Pad (the one that the ignition rips off). I have one that I am wanting to sell riiight.gif Seriously though you can pass 10 footers on that thing! It comes with sticky foam stuff to keep it in the same place so you don't have to worry about slip either! Anything after that I would just take to the arcade =)

A little while ago, a bunch of idiots decided to "invade" DDRFreak by trolling and posting meaningless crap all over the place. As a result, the beginner member posting limit was changed to 1 thread / 1 reply per day. I suggested changing the FAQ (which still says 3 threads / 10 replies) but it never happened. E19.gif Oh well - in two weeks, you'll be a basic member (no posting limit). In the meantime, I'm fairly sure you can still send private messages.

The BNS pad your thinking of is the Fusion -

http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=110317

Read up on it, it has some mixed reviews. I just ordered 2 of them though. A single one is in your price range, but shipping will probably push it way over.

It's $138 for a single one, shipping for 2 was 75 bucks, I don't know if it is less for a single one or not though.

I should have mine by Wed. I will be posting more once I get them.

DDRCity and DDRGame have a really good foam pad. http://ddrcity.com/ddr/505-01054-de-pad.htm I know foam pads are generally shunned, but these high density ones feel really nice to play on (I haven't played on my friends Ignition so I can't compare but i've AAed some 8 footers, keep in mind im not amazing at DDR, on high density foam pads)

Theyll only cost around $60 + Shipping. Don't get a regular foam pad, theyre horrible, its like dancing in sand.

yea, i read up on the pad , http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/44/VG-FUS-MTL01/
seems like the v2 is pretty good

right now im debating between that bns one above, tx-4000, and intec arcade (found http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=113172)

could i get any of these at a store instead of having to get it online with that huge shipping fee?

also, since i can only post once every 24 hrs for now... can someone teach me or link me to some common terms of ddr? (ex. 8-footers, crossovers, spins, slides, etc.)

ok, i've come down to 2 pads

what should i get

Intec "Arcade Dance Platform" - $99 (no shipping cost cause ill be getting it at toys r us)

OR

BNS DX Xtreme Dance Pad w/ Xtreme Dense Inserts - $65 (shipping included) this is a ignition-type pad which is a bit cheaper than the RO ignition yet my friend says it functions only a tiny bit worse
(http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/4985/VG-DDR-ULTDX/)

i'm just wondering which ones gonna last longer and be better - i heard that sometimes metal pads don't last as long
i'm currently playing light-standard on ddr ex2
if i'm to get the intec one for $25 more - is it really worth it? i checked the reviews for both and they both seem pretty decent

thanks

I bought this pad from LevelSix over a year and a half ago, and it still works for most songs that are <9 in difficulty (I haven't been using it for like 8 months because I built a metal pad, but it never broke). It's a very good pad to learn on.

http://www.levelsix.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=29

I wouldn't suggest investing in a metal pad until you've gotten pretty good at DDR and you're confident that you're going to be active enough in it to warrant buying/making a metal pad.

ok are these 3 pads the exact same except different brand? if not, which one should i get?
http://www.levelsix.com/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=29
http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/4985/VG-DDR-ULTDX/
http://www.redoctane.com/ignitionpad.html

the redoctane one costs over $60 more than the other 2 , so i'm hoping to get one of the other two , unless theres a SIGNIFICANT difference
a play standard-light right now, but i will be playing alot since i use ddr as exercise as well

thus, ive been introduced to this metal pad:
http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/4985/VG-DDR-ULTDX/
its metal, but will it be worth the $99? will it significantly be better or outlast the other ignition-type pads?

and since i can only post once every 24 hrs disgust.gif
i will be editing this post with updates -.-. hopefully, some ppl could check back

thanks again!

edit: cant reply for a couple more hours =(
anyway, did u mean the lvl6 $44 or the bns $48 one when you said 40? and the bns claims to have "Xtreme Dense Inserts" . does the level 6 one have this as well?

will the metal antec pad significantly outlast the other ignition-type pads? if it will, then it must be the better investment?

You could go for the $40 version. It says it has the Ignition foam (which is good, hard foam) and considering your skill level, its not a horriblely expensive investment and should work fine. When purchasing a metal pad, its better to stay away from anything that recieves any kind of criticism.

i would suggest the mymybox ignition pads on ebay just search for them. I have heard some good things about them in terms of durability.

are the 3 ignition-type pads exactly the same? (just different brands)

v4- could you link me to one of those? didnt find it when i went to the mymybox site
