Please try to use proper spelling and grammar, it makes things easier to read.

DDR arcade production has already stopped in Japan, and there's only been 1 recent console release. It's just not popular there anymore.

Rhythm gaming is pretty much in the height of it's popularity in the US and Europe, so it's fair to say it has some time in it yet. There will always be some "hardcore" fans who will buy anything Konami push out the door with a DDR logo on it, but as a franchise there isn't very much further they can go with it, apart from new looks and new songs. It's definately a fad, and fads die eventually.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Everything meets an end in time. For now the future of DDR is solely in home versions since new arcade games have been dropped.

One thing thats hurtin DDR in the US popularity wise is ITG. I can see DDR fading out of the public eye but ITG staying strong.
I say this because of the game interface. ITG has so much harder songs and different mods, gameplay modes, ect.
Now, id hate for that to happen, but DDR better modernize their game format and do some harder songs or i can see a rough ZigZaggy road ahead for them...
But i agere with Topher, the home versions will probobly still sell
I dont see DDR fully going Belly up, but it will lose a lot of popularity, and may take second place to other games.

Well, it's getting popular in U.S and Europe ( starting to show off in canada -.- ), But in japan, as Pop'n Usagi said, it's dying, so to know if new DDR will come, no one knows, maybe only on U.S ground...

Eventually fads die over time riiight.gif . Thinking about it isn't going to make it better. I rather just think of it neverending then moping and worrying about it when its gone. And yes, we all get old E15.gif .

<3 ITG

DDR just isnt a challenge any more. i think its safe to say most of the once hardcore DDR players have moved on to ITG. well, at least in my area.

Hay guyz, let's have an ITG vs. DDR debate!

Seriously, no one take that as bait to say "omg itg sux" or "omg ddr sux" and take us down that road again.

Heres the way I see it.
Yes, DDR does have a future. I dont nesselary think its in the Arcade, not in the near future anyway. For one thing, I think Konami's main problem with the arcade is the Hardware.
Bad pads
Bootlegged motherboards
Old PS1 based hardware
limited space for songs

Konami COULD pull a RoXor and go with a boxor type setup, or do what they did with the last release of Dancing stage, with the PS2 hardware upgrade. I dont know how that was implamented, if anyone knows let me know!

I think DDR's future is in the home versions, they are being put out rapidly and they are selling pretty well. So, thats working pretty well. I also think there marketing is going well.

Im kinda worried about IIDX here. It seems as if they are marketing it as a dj game. Personaly, IIDX isnt a Dj simulator. ive never seen a dj with a mini turntable and a half octive paino.

But if IIDX gets popular... DDR may not have a future. IIDX will.
It can swing ether way.

also the music in every direction is ia very awsome way to premote DDR, KR, and bm. and with Konamistyle.com open what are you complaining about? Bemani is here and here to stay! just not an arcade mix.

But, wtf does a 15 year old know! E13.gif

Considering how popular IIDX is in Japan compared to DDR, I'd say it has the best chance of longevity. The only trick is that it takes an incredible amount of patience and time to get good at the game; many younger kids aren't going to have that patience at first.

Yeah, thats a good point.

But consider how many members on this board, people who play IIDX via import, or how many hardcore players who play DDR, ITG, Pump, Amplatude, frequency, Taiko, Guitar Hero... Most of those people will buy IIDX here. then thoese people will tell there friends who play DDR. I think it will be a mild success.
