You know, at DDRUK, I made a Front Page news post that got 0 replies.
I'm not going to listen to Linkin Park over it. We get 0-reply threads you know. Cheer up, emo. |

The game has lost credibility for stealing one of the Ultramix alternate noteskins. |

Any word on a songlist? Will it be quality, or crappy covers(as is rapidly becoming the standard)?
Ubisoft... every time they do something I appreciate, they turn right back around and put a knife in my shoulder. Did they at least use a different arrow scheme?
The concept sounds good(urban / breaking = cool), but the execution sounds a little contrived. _________________

Still 4-panel, with additional swiping of an alternate noteskin from Ultramix. |

Looks interesting....plus it's got my name it it. I would pick it up if it used 5 pannels instead of 4. And from the trailer it looks like theres some kinda freestyle tutorial video. _________________

I just got this game today - picked it up used at EB Games. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The game play is identical to DDR with even a few ITG hands thrown in for fun. I'm pretty eclectic with my music tastes, but hiphop is not among my favorites. Still, I found the music enjoyable. A few seemed to walk a strange line between hiphop and techno - and succeeded.
The steps are solid, if not remarkable. The easy level is REALLY easy - think beginner in DDR. The medium level is more interesting - probably equivalent in DDR foot ratings to 3-6. I haven't gotten into the expert steps yet.
They have a Street Mode which is similar to mission mode. You are given challenges to do to unlock other levels, songs, dancers, etc. Unlike DDR you can choose any of the 3 difficulties all through street mode. The early missions are painfully easy (get a combo of 10 - lol) but you can at least play them with a hard song.
There's a workout mode too. I haven't tested it to see if the accuracy is decent (unlike ITG), but it does allow for height, weight, age, gender, and typical activity level to be input. It will not save workout data though.
More to come if the game merits it! |

It actually looks kinda fun _________________

My initial (45 minute) impressions of it.
Songlist: I don't know how much I have unlocked, but I'm enjoying the tunes. Maybe it's because this is, ya know, dance-able music, but it DOES make me want to dance. Unfortunately, the songlist is REALLY varied in the song length. I've seen one less than a minute (I think) and one at almost 3 minutes in length.
Steps: Mostly standard DDR fare. The levels go from 1 to 5 (I think), and I've only done as high as 4. Those felt like 8-footers, and some were LONG songs. Saw a few fun step patterns, but it feels pretty DDR-ish. I'll try a few harder ones with the dual-shock later, as I'm pretty tired right now.
Gameplay: Uh, pretty unpolished outside the standard arrow-smash. For one, the arrows only come in two colors. So, aside from going by the music, you have to guess at whether or not an arrow is an 8th, a triplet, a 16th, etc. I think they woulda been better off just having one solid color (much like DDR's Flat). Two, I've had the arrows freeze and then skip at times. Not the song, just the arrows. It throws you off a good amount for the arrows coming up. Think Stepmania. Song and arrows afterward are all dead-on, but still. Oh, and, third, and the painful kick in the pants...YOU CAN'T TURN OFF THE CORNER BUTTONS! (Think DDR Extreme USA/DDR Festival.)
"Mission" stuff: A lot like DDR, but you unlock stuff like crazy. Also, you can, as stated earlier, do them on any difficulty, though some of them have a price for doing them on Easy or Medium. It seems that you can unlock the next mission by doing them on Easy or Medium, but only Hard will unlock the bonus item (like a costume or a power move for a character).
I haven't tried any multiplayer stuff yet. I'll post more after playing a lot tomorrow. Have to stop using the dance pad (on the 2nd floor), but I'll play with the controller for a while tonight and see what I unlock. _________________

I think I might have to get this, as one of the songs is actually "Don't Sweat The Technique", by Eric B. & Rakim... _________________

I bought flow just a couple days ago, and basically its a big waste of money. I played it the first night I got it for like 20 minutes, and I guess it's KINDA fun, but I dont want to play it anymore because it doesnt at all compare to ddr or itg! Im pissed that I got it and i hope i can get my money back from gamestop. I mean It's kinda fun. the hardest songs are like a hard 9 or mabey a easy Sakura-style 10, but it's not the same when it's to rap music . And the arrow patterns r harder to read cause there is only two different arrow colors, and even those r hard to tell apart from eachother. And there r no speed mods or good options
Don't waste 32$ That was gonna go towards my tx 6000 _________________
