I am VERY inexperienced with this sort of stuff, but I have managed to repair my pad to a degree. It might help if you guys knew what kind of pad i have.
it is a solo pad (six arrows). it came with these horrible rubber supports at the bottom which i had to remove. when it came to me, it was really dirty and it had taken FOREVER to ship. it actually looks almost exactly like the mymybox solomode metal pad: http://store.mymybox.com/ddrmt6.html
EXCEPT the start and select button is not on the lower right of the pad, but instead on the front.
when i first got it, i removed the rubber supports and removed the big metal sheet covering the bottom of the pad. i unscrewed all the brackets and cleaned underneath them. Soon enough, the panels started cracking and cracking some more. I eventually had to open the pad up. I had no idea what i was doing or whether i was doing it right, but i had to switch some pads and resolder. I never play solo so i switched the up-left arrow with the left arrow and resoldered. this pad did not have to pieces of foil touching eachother, but instead one piece of foil on top and a plate with a foil pattern on the bottom. so when the top foil touched the plate the step registered. i don;t know the names of these different sensor systems.
Recently, i found some polycarbonate sitting in the garage and had it cut into more or less hte right shape. I designed an arrow and stuck it on underneath the ploycarbonate. before that i took abart the entire pad so that i could transport it and put it back together again. i labeled the wiring so i'd know what is what.
now here is where i need help. do you have any suggestions for me since i'm rebuilding the pad and i now have the opportunity to add things or modify things?
and also, i need to replace the select button because it is messed up. how can i do that?
also, should i secure all nine squares to a peg board to keep them all together and forget about the brackets?
EDIT: I think i have a tx-1000.....really crappy.
it's like this one
but mine was before they made all the changes like smooth bracketless sides and circular brackets for the pad itself.

if you didnt replace the acrylic arrows with polycarbonate you should do that now. or you could buy the arrow panels on this page http://www.gameenhancer.net/Game-Enhancer.html im not sure if they'll work with your pad. i think you should secure the pad to peg board. though you should still use the brackets to keep the panels in place. oh yeah, you should sheet metal mod you pad with 30 or 26 Gauge Galvanized Steel Sheet Metal. i dont know how you could fix your Start and Select buttons so i cant help you there. _________________

i know that it was sheet metal, that's all i know.
it was silver on one side and gold on the other. i think it will work, but i won;t know until i put the whole thing together.
arrgh! i still need help with the start/select buttons! |
