I'm looking for a good PS2->GC adapter, but it's been tough finding info about one that works well. I've looked all over this site and it seems like most people want PS2->Xbox/PC. Here's what I've found so far:
Mayflash Cube Joybox (GC001) - No - DDR freak thread said bad for dance pads Dragon Joypad - No - Stepmania reports delayed response Jandaman's universal PS2 converter - ??? LevelSix/Jandaman's PSX to GC adapter - No SmartJoy Plus universal PS2 converter w/dance mode - ??? Gemini Game-Elements (GGE815) - Maybe - Reportedly good versions and bad versions of this? Red Octane universal PS2 converter - Maybe - RO has a disclaimer for DDR Mario Mix, but doesn't really know if it'll work for not (emailed them)
Anyone have good experiences with any of these on the GameCube?

I understand if you dont have a PS2 or another system, however I would personally just get a GC softpad. It will be good enough for mario mix difficulty and will work well if you mount it to plywood or MDF |

I know I can buy GC soft pads and do the mod, but I'm also getting a pair for a friend's Xmas present. An out of the box pad & adapter would be ideal since he also has a PS2 and GC. Plus, having 2 pads for each system costs more and wastes more apartment space.
That bites. I was hoping someone would have found a solution for Mario Mix by now. Thanks for the info anyways. If anyone does find an adapter that works or a cheap/dependable dance pad that can be used on PS2 and GC, PLEASE let me know here. I'd really appreciate it. |

I'm still on the hunt for PS2 -> GC so I guess I'll update the initial post with what I find. Let me know if you have any successes/unsuccesses to add. |

I'm also curious, is there really not one out there that's fully compatible with Mario Mix? |

I can report that the Nyko Playcube adapter DOES NOT WORK. $20 down the goddamn drain.
Let THAT be known.
I'm also on the hunt for one of these. I'll be damned if I'm going to wear down my feet on a cement floor playing DDR Mario when I have my cobalt flux sitting 10 feet away.
The Gemini GGE815 seems to no longer be in existence, which royally sucks because, as near as I can tell, it's the ONLY known adapter which is supposed to work with the GC -> PS2.
I'm still looking, but I fear that this is too much of a niche market for someone to have gotten their act together and filled it.

For what it's worth, my reading seems to indicate that there once was a Nyko Playcube that worked, but it was basically a version 1 device. Since then, they've redesigned it twice, and the redesigns don't work. Apparently the one that you really want has black connectors and a purple box in the middle. The ones that don't work are all black or all purple. I thought I finally struck gold a while back when I saw a place selling them with the version 1 image, but they actually shipped newer ones that don't work. |
