In the beginning of this year, I bought myself a metal pad. It worked great until the Up arrow stopped working. I took it to get it fixed and I was told there was a problem with the soldering. I thought that maybe it got fixed for good, but then the Up arrow again stopped working. I figured I would buy a soldering iron and try fixing it myself. I've fixed it more than once, probably because I kept doing a crappy soldering job.
Anyways, a few months ago, the Up arrow stopped working again. I was too lazy to fix it immediately, so I didn't try fixing it until I got a copy of DDR Ultramix 3. Last night, I tried fixing it, but I somehow got a rapid-firing Up arrow. At first, I thought that maybe it was because the two wires connected to the contact were soldered together, so I tried soldering them apart. It was still rapid-firing, but then I realized that, even without the contact and even if the wires weren't touching each other, I was still getting a rapid-firing Up arrow. Does anyone know what's wrong? As I was writing this, I was thinking that maybe I had an extra controller plugged in that was possibly causing a rapid up movement on the Ultramix 3 menu, but if thats not it, I'm wondering if anyone could tell me what else could be wrong. _________________

I don't know much about soldering, but I can guarantee that no one can give a sufficient answer without specifying which pad you actually have. Brand/model? |

Well, it doesn't have a brand name on it, but I'm pretty sure the model is V2.6B. I got it from a Chinatown store and they got it from Game Enhancer Canada. According to the Game Enhancer web site, the pad I have is supposed to be an exact replica of one of the Red Octane metal pads. Here's where I got the info:

Are your wires shielded? Because I had goofy electromagnetic interference in my pad causing rapid fires on all 4 arrows such that it would crash the menu screen. I used the highly advanced method of wrapping the wires in aluminum foil to act as a shielding. _________________

When I have this problem it's either the wires are hosed right on the senor or underneath the pad.
When you open the bottom of the pad you'll notice to metal bars running across the bottom.
The wires run in between the two metal bars and the wooden frame.
One of my pads had bad support underneath it; the result was the metal bar smashed the wires until it stripped the wire.
The slightly exposed wire kept coming in contact with the metal bar causing me to either have a rapid fire arrow or and arrow that was stuck.
I used duct tape to secure the wire and socks for padding haha. _________________
