Fellow DDRers
I have a RedOctane ignition dance pad. It is very sensitive at times, and sometimes does random tingsa without anyone on it. Could this be happening because of the way I store it? I store it upright behind the couch, so it is out of the way. I was just wondering how the rest of you store it and if you may have any suggesgions.
P.S. When I first got it out of the box, it did the same thing. Is that because of how it is packaged??
Any help is appreciated. |

I usually let mine sit on the ground as theyre 50LBS each side.
really now, my softpad hangs from a nail by its cord on a wall. |

Personally, I don't think it has anything to do with the way you store it, unless you take out the foam insert and fold it up like a soft pad. I use to have a redoctane ignition 2.0, and every time I had been done using it, I layed it up against the wall with the foam insert in it. After having my ignition pad for awhile, I noticed the same thing you did, which was ghost steps (arrows being registered as a hit when you don't touch it). The ghost steps come up after using the pad for awhile because you are wearing out the censors (keep in mind that the censors are weak and can easily slide and bend in ignition pads). If you choose to, you can take a look at the censors for yourself. The best way to store the pad, (even though I haven't tried this yet) is probably to lay it flat on the floor. Even though that might be the best way to store your pad, it probably won't make a difference with the outcome of ghost steps in your pad.
That's my input on the situation. I hope I helped you in any way possible. _________________

Take the foam out flip it over and put it back in. I had the same problem and that fixed it. |

It's not so much the arrows as it is the select buttons (start and choose selection button) It's just starting to drive me nuts. |

I took out that crappy piece of foam and put in plywood instead. Now I have no phantom stepping. ( I made sure it was sanded REALLY well so it was smooth.) |
