Hello. My brother is interested in getting DDR Mario Mix sometime in the near future. I was not sure if the Ignition 3.0 is compatible with the Nintendo Gamecube. I did try to plug it in without an adaptor, and it seemed to fit. I just don't know if it works or not.

Nope. The Ignition is USB, PS2 and XBox. Go for a MadCatz universal, those are Gamecube compatible.
