I really want to play DDR, but I'm pretty broke and don't currently have a gaming system. I've found the ddr dance tv pad made by some third part, it's really cheap so I'm assuming it sucks, any thoughts? (http://www.ddrgame.com/dadareddrtvp.html)

I also have a high end pc, should I try playing it on that, how much would it cost, how hard would it be, and how well will it work?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have a job, but at the moment rent and food take priority, so right now I need something to hold me off while I save up.

I finally found a review for the tv mat I posted a link for. Although it has everything to play and is really cheap it seems the music is only beeps, not even midi quality, and the mat is terrible.

I am looking into playing on a computer. Bestbuy has a mat that connects via USB, but it's $100, still cheaper, but I'm seeing if I can do better.

If you are currently broke and have a high end pc, consider downloading stepmania.

No, no, no. Don't waste $100 on a dance pad (A very big no no nono.gif ). You don't need a specific mat that connects to a USB. In fact, just get a cheap PS2-USB converter (either from stores such as radioshack or online, and buy a cheap dance pad (preferably any pad that is not third party. The Official In The Groove Dance Pad is a good choice). All you need to worry about is compatability issues (which can be found online).

I hope this helps. thumb.gif

DO NOT GET THE RADIO SHACK CONVERTER!

It can only read on axes, and you won't be able to hit up/down and left/right.

I would suggest buynshop.com. They have VERY reasonable prices, and you can pretty easily hook it up to a PC and play Stepmania.

Just download stepmania for your computer it's free. then buy a PS2 pad and then get a converter to plug it into your computers USB port. just make sure you get a decent converter the ones from radio shack dont work right.

now why would he want to get that pad for? its cheap yes, but its for xbox, and its a hassle to find XBOX to USB adapters, when there's an abundance of PS to USB adapters.

Anyways, as xmaxx replied, yes, you should get a cheap soft pad and also a USB adapter with it, as it should be around $25 total. Dont get those extremely cheap pads though (such as 3rd party dance pads), cuz they'll break down on you in no time considering the price of it (i.e. $10) ugh! Then when you get those 2, all you'll need is to download the PC game at www.Stepmania.com. Just go on Google.com, search for DDR soft pad, compare its prices, OR you can go to the FIRST topic listed in this forum section, which shows you all soft/hard dance pads that are currently out right now... plus its not too hard to save up $25-30 bucks, i know it aint that hard, even with bills and everything. I was broke once too, but if u save enough and dont do much, you will amount to it soon. have patience =]

If you were lookin' to spend $100 on a pad, then I think you should try your luck with finding a refurbed PS2 and a used game. It should be around the same. And I'm sure it won't take a year to save up $20 for a pad.
