I was just wondering if anyone could point me to a good tutorial for fixing ignition pads.
Well, what I know so far is that at least in my case, the pads themselves are not wearing down as fast as the circuit board.
I just converted from ps2 to xbox and it seems there is an error with the down arrow, having to do with the board. I have read A LOT of posts about certain arrows in certain brands of ignitions that have consistent problems. Maybe it is a board problem.
If you open the area with the board, the soldering is VERY sloppy and some places two points are much less then 1/2 of a mm apart. Why not space it a little farther apart if the solder is going to be so sloppy...
Anyways the pad worked OK most of the time on my ps2, it was starting to get worse because the small foam in between the two conductive layers in the middle was wearing down. I have since replaced the foam, hoping that would solve the problem. No suck luck.
So today I stuck a multimeter on each layer of conductive material close to the down arrow. I can watch the voltage drop to 0 when I step on that arrow, so I know it has something to do with the board.
Is there a simple fix for this? Maybe I can just solder a wire from the trace for the down arrow to ground? I know there are a lot of you guys that build your own cboxes. Well, i know there is more logic to it then that. Anyways, any help/comments would be apreciated.
I will update if I can find a fix, maybe it could help some people with their ignition problems.
BTW they are Vortz pads, and will prolly start tearing more in the future, just want them to last untill I can build my own pads... Stupid school taking all my time and money |
