Francisco "Captain Jack" Gutierrez dead at 43

We were informed this morning that well-known Bemani and Dancemania artist Captain Jack has passed away due to a stroke and accompanying coma. Captain Jack was originally diagnosed with a stroke in 2002, but refused to change his lifestyle to reduce the impact of his condition and lessen the chance of a future stroke. He collapsed on Monday at a party in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, and was pronounced dead today. Captain Jack is survived by his ex-wife Daniela Schaefer and his son Francisco.

It's too bad. He was really good at what he did, and he didn't deserve such an early exit. R.I.P.

A bit of consolation: he went out doing what he loved, at least. There's something to be said for that.

Wow this is really bad...we must do something as the best known DDR site in the United States in comemoration for one of Bemani's most favored artists...indeed a sad day for DDR fans everywhere...long live the memory of Captain Jack.

a sad day for DDrR fans? i think not, i feel it's a sad day for the BEMANI community. If you played his songs or not, anyone who plays BEMANI regularlly will know his name, a few may even sing along (i being one of them).
