i hear a good place to buy soft pads are www.buynshop.com . people say the the BNS DX Pad is great. (better than the 100 dollars Redoctane Ignitions, while the DX costs about 1/2 of that price). i might order the NX Pad and buy an adapter for stepmania. if i do order the NX chances are ill write a review. i saw on one site that the NX and other soft pads are shipped poorly (they're crammed into a small box and it might kill the circuits). if you can find an official konami soft pad or a redoctane official in the groove pad, buy that. the konami pad lasts a long time according to konami pad owners

I bought an adapter from BNS for Stepmania and recieved it within 3 days of order, so they seem pretty reliable with me. E1.gif

Well the adapter I got from BNS is the BNS Single PS to PC Link Cable (LPT/Printer Port). Here is the link. http://www.buynshop.com/productinfo/45/VG-PS-PS2PC4/.

Then you have to download the driver the NTpad v2.01 from aldostools.com.

I did notice with this driver it is hard for me to start some games, like Halo UT2004 and others, but I can uninstall the driver and games run fine.

But other than that the adapter works perfect no need to use the up+start+select code. both left and right up and down combos work great.

GL on your purchase whatever it is E1.gif

so ur saying drivers arent required for that adapter. if u dont need them, sweet im buying that one with the BNS Ultra NX pad. will that adapter work with Windows 98? im using Stepmania 3.9rc and sometimes Stepmania Alpha 18. mostly 3.9rc.

No I'm saying that you have to have a driver, at least that is what I saw here. http://www.stepmania.com/stepmania/mediawiki.php?title=USBAdapters

Go down half of page to Parellel and they say it is compatible with a pad, but you need to use Direct Pad Pro 6.0. I think you can also use the 5.0 version right beneath the other links.

Here is the link for the driver. http://www.aldostools.com/dpad.html

I bought a LevelSix softpad. Held up great for several months, but it can't take anything beyond mid-level 9s anymore. (bought it about a year ago, but stopped using it about 7 months ago because I made a metal pad).

I bought a Non Slip dance pads from www.xgamegear.com
they have plenty of choices. you can compare the price from others.
This is the one I bought one year ago, and still works fine.
http://www.xgamegear.com/ddrpn02.html

the quality of that solo mode design pad was very similar with redoctane's non slip dance pad (not the one they have recently but old style).

You can find coupon code and save some money. you have to buy $50 or more then you get 10% off. They always have discount coupon available. Since the pad is not that heavy, shipping cost will be cheap. look for the bundle. that saves you money too. good luck!
oh, by the way don't get regular dance pads, they are very slipery.

As I said in the sticky on this....

Go with the bundle pack with extreme. You get a good quality soft pad for $20, and if you buy it from EB you get a one year warranty for $4. That's not bad AT ALL. So unless your talking getting a pad with a foam insert such s the ignition, just get the EX2 bundle.

sorry bro but there is no such thing as a good soft pad wether it be foam or plastic, i learned that the hard way, went through way to many of them E2.gif

meh. i'd put my money on a pad with foams in it. doens't kick around nearly as much as a paper thin pad. NX (about 25 bucks) is thicker than the entry level paper thin pads and i'm sure there are other pads like it. check around, i personally didn't have a problem with the NX pad at all.

foam is the way to go though.

Go DX, it is in the same ball park as an Ignition series pad but its 1/2 the price and doens't have all the malfunctions.

yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. FOAM!
