0. Posted: Mon Sep 26, 2005 5:16 am Post subject: WHY is Disconnected Disco a 10 on doubles?? |
|
|
I've passed EVERY ITG1 doubles song, will relative ease, including pandy and vertex, I'm close to passing Energizer, and all the songs with hands on ITG2 (needless to say, I hated the doubles charts on ITG1 enough not to play anymore doubles period, !@#$ MJ), and everything on ITG1 and 2 singles. My arcade just unlocked Disconnected Disco, and I hear there are lots of hands on it. I try it, I'm like WTF the first time, I figure I might be able to pass it without sightreading and get around 50% my second way through.
This should be a TWELVE foot, or at worst a hard 11. I already know the ITG ratings are HORIBLY messed up (Delerium being an 11 compared to HOTN? HAHAHA), but seriously, do you expect anyone who can pass 10s or 11s to even come close to passing this? Whoever put the stepchart ratings for doubles was an idiot, and probably can't even play doubles charts that are difficult to know how to rate them in the first place. Just aweful, anyone else have opinions on this song? |

Hmmm, I would help you, but you see, I've never even played on an ITG2 machine. Actually, I've never even seen ITG2 in person.....
But it sounds like poopy in a can to me. I'm a doubles player too, so I feel your pain. _________________

While we're on the subject, it's Delirium, not Delerium. |

Yeah, it's messed up. I can beat all the ITG double songs, including Energizer (with only like an 85%), but I can't beat Disconnected Disco and I tried it twice. Definitely should be like a 12. _________________

I almost passed Disconnected Disco on my first try (failed in the last 4 steps or so), and I can pass... probably about half the 11s? I mostly failed because my legs were DEAD at the end. Too much squatting, standing up, etc.
So, I'd say yeah, it should be an 11. It's nowhere near a 12 though. _________________

Saw a video of JBoy playing it and YES it should be at least an 11. Those hands are insane. I'll try to pass it though. _________________

Not to be an asshat, but since the release of Disconnected Disco, all topics that talked about Disconnected Disco, without exception, had 1 (or 20) people complaining that the stepchat for Disconnected Disco Doubles Expert should be an 11. Ok people, we get it. Yes, MJ said he is making changes to some of the stepcharts for ITG3 and most probably ITG2 Home Version. So rest assured, this one will be an 11. And to the guy who compared Delirium Doubles Expert and HOTN Doubles Expert, HOTN is now an 11. |

Sorry guys, Disconnected Disco doubles hard and expert should definitely have been rated 9 and 11. It was an oversight on my part.
Rest assured it will be re-rated for all future ITG releases. |

HOTN is an 11 now? Awesome, I haven't checked out any of the old charts since ITG2 came out, once I got all the scores on my machine I didn't care anymore. I'm glad to see that some of the songs have had an overhaul if that's the case though. |

Anser to any "Why is X song X rating?" question: Because Roxor said so. What does it matter what rating it is? If you can clear it, well done. If not, keep practising, don't complain it's too hard. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Not an 11 in ITG2, but MJ said it will be an 11 in ITG3. |

Actually, I'm pretty sure it IS an 11 on ITG2...I played it yesterday and it was definitely an 11 on Double. Too easy for an 11 in my opinion, though...oh well. _________________

Yes, because if Pandemonium Expert was a 10 because Roxor said so everyone would agree with them, obviously not, and your point makes no sense whatsoever in that regard.
The rating matters because it's supposed to be a measure of how difficult it is compared to other songs to pass. No person who can't do 11s easily on Double is going to pass it first stage, and 2$ lost. It's significantly harder than both Liquid Moon and Twilight. |

That doesn't change the fact that it would be a 10, whether the rating suited the song or not. The rating that's given is what Roxor think it is, and as the makers of the steps, that's their choice. You don't have to agree with it, just get on with clearing it. _________________

Roxor obviously does not think it is a 10 since MJ just said he will be changing the rating in all future releases of ITG. _________________

To let Roxor know what we think should be changed. They do listen, so this is different than those pointless threads in DDR Gameplay.
I've passed Vertex DE, and come close to passing Energizer, and I failed Disconnected Disco miserably with 41% when I tried it. I'm going to give it another shot, but it feels harder than Twilight, Tribal Style, Delerium, Summer, etc. This is the hardest double 11 IMO. |

Something like Summer is outright hard. It bashes you with a couple of very nasty runs, which can easily drain you of a lot of life meter.
Disconnected Disco is a bunch of slow, quarter note hand parts. The runs in Summer, you can know what to do but still screw up. These hands, you either nail them or you miss them. You either understand and execute, or you don't.
So yeah, I think it's too hard to be a 10, but once you know what you're doing, it's not a hard 11 at all. _________________
