By style i'm mainly asking towards the ones who use their fingers. How do you guys play? Do you use both hands? Do you use 2-3 fingers on one hand?

I'm mainly asking because there are problems I come across during songs that I don't know how to pass with my fingers because it seems to get crowded. For instance, I can't do songs with much chaos because my fingers get clumped together, and I can't do gallops/chaos that involve both vertical arrows(up and down). So a few simple suggestions and new ways to play would be helpful. biggrin.gif

Most of the time I use both of my index fingers. I don't like it every much. Now and then I use my left index and my right middle and idex. It sometimes helps depending on what song I'm playing.

I don't use the keyboard. I either play on a dance pad or use a PlayStation 2 Dual Shock controller hooked up to the computer via USB adapter.

I use a four finger spread, which is with two hands on the keyboard.

Index. Once you get over jumps and get speed, you can become one of the best players out there with this style, and it's certainly more fun than spread to use.

For keyboard play, I use the arrow keys, not the numeric keypad (since my laptop doesn't have one), and I use three fingers. Generally, index finger for Left, middle finger for Up and Down, and ring finger for Right. But there are some exceptions. For fast Up/Down runs, or if I'm holding an Up or Down freeze and need to hit other things, I'll bring my index finger over to take over one of the keys. For Down+Right or Up+Right jumps, I'll shift over & use my index & middle finger.

I usually use the pad. I don't get scores half as decent as I do in the arcade, due to my crappy homemade pad. I guess it's training. But I can still A and AA the songs I usually can (Max 300, PSMO), but I can't AAA them at home like I can in the arcade.

I suck at keying. I made a song that I know is accurate but I can't even pass it.

3 - finger. Index on left, index and middle on right. Pretty freakin awesome in my opinion, but a lot of the best players I know are either four-fingered or index.

I find that when I try playing with 2 hands, it gets way too clustered and I miss an easy step or jump.

I play with both of my index and middle fingers, so I guess I'm a 4 finger stud! E7.gif

On the rare occasion that I do keyboard (which means Im probably on my laptop), I play with my middle, index and ring fingers on a spread setup (one hand on WASD and one hand on the arrows or IJKL).

I use one hand, three fingers when I can (any official DDR or ITG song, and some of the easier originals), but I use two hands, two fingers for hard, keyboard only songs (most of which I can't pass anyway E2.gif ). I use the basic arrows keys; currently I play on a laptop and my USB keyboard is in storage, which makes it so much harder to do anything remotely difficult.
