Codemasters prepares to revolutionise dance mat gaming with Dance Factory - coming Spring 2006, exclusively for PlayStation 2
Any music CD, any track - the ultimate dance game that generates dance movies from your own music CDs!
Get ready to groove it to any tune you want because the global dance video game phenomena is about to undergo a revolution.
Codemasters, a leading global publisher of interactive entertainment, today announces the development of Dance Factory, a major mass-market PlayStation 2 exclusive that heralds a next generation in the dance mat game genre.
When it launches in spring 2006, Dance Factory will deliver every dance mat gamerâs dream thanks to its unique feature: the game can take any track from any music CD in your entire collection, play it and automatically generate incredible dance routines, played out on-screen for you to groove to on the mat.
Superseding previous dance mat games that have had pre-set play lists limited to the licensed tracks on the game disc, Dance Factory will offer infinite variety. With Dance Factory, there is no limit to the tunes you can dance to, since any and every CD in your personal collection can be used with the game to create a series of dance steps. You choose the tunes, Dance Factory creates the moves and the party is what you make it - be it Hip Hop, Rock, Disco, whatever!
Dance Factoryâs unique beat recognition technology and its game mechanics are being developed by Broadsword Interactive, the team behind the successful Dance UK series.
Nicky Hewitt, Director of Marketing at Codemasters: enthuses: âThis is an incredible development in social gaming and will give anyone the ability to choose the tracks they want to groove to on a dance mat. Rather then be limited by a built-in play list, the freedom Dance Factory offers enables it to span across all music tastes.
âThis freedom also means the game wonât be dated by a forced play list - you can as easily play it with a classic disco track or the current number one.â
âItâs a great unique feature and just one of the many weâve yet to reveal on this exciting project that is set to deliver the most accessible and fun dance mat game ever.â
Providing the power for everyone to dance to the music they want, Dance Factory is coming spring 2006 for PlayStation 2. Get with the groove and find out more online at www.codemasters.co.uk/dancefactory.

I will reserve all judgement on this title until it actually comes out in Spring of 2006! You should too! But you probably wont! Bitch away!!

The article I posted was very clear that you would have to swap in your own music CDs. If this game turns out to be any good at all, I'm hoping that it's not just limited to commercial CDs... I would like not to insert one of my own mix CDs and have it say 'SORRY!!!'.

I feel like this is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Some band out there I'm sure doesn't want their music on this game. _________________

Goo Goo Soundy was, for the most part, a pretty craptastic game.
I'm sure this will follow the crappiness. I would like to think I'm going to be wrong, but I doubt it.
