I keep running into this strange breed of player lately. It boggles my mind and annoys me, so I finally had to post about it.
I'm talking about these kids who are stamina-beasts, but can't PA easy stuff to save their a$$. There's this one kid I see playing often who can get an A or better on all the tens, including PSMO, but then I saw him get 31 & misses on Door of Magic, high 20's on LTTS-TC Mix, and didn't AA Do You Remember Me.
Now I'm no elite player. I still can't pass most 10's, but several tounaments I've seen lately either ban 10s or limit you to using the same song once or twice tops.
If I had to go against this kid in a tourny, and he already used up his 10s, I could take him...and I suck.
Doesn't seem smart to do nothing but play 10s all the time. About equally as smart as playing any same 5 songs repeatedly. The other day my friend played with him, and picked Last Message, and he said he had never played it before!
I guess these kids annoy me for some reason. I dunno, is it more impressive to SDG or AAA stuff or get A's on 10s all day? _________________

I guess I was like that a while ago. Now I have even more stamina, and my PA is excellent. |

Everyone has different styles of playing. Why does it bother you so much that people can't PA? Some people aim for PA, others FC... myself, for example, I have terrible PA but I can FC circles around the dance pad on pretty much all 9 footers and, erm, one ten (if you consider Bag much of a ten...)
The gist of my point is, don't knock people because they play differently than you. Everyone has different skill levels, everyone has different ways they like to play. It's a game, and as long as they're having fun, what's it effect you any? _________________

Perhaps these kids focus on 10s because of the feeling of, 'Yeah, I just pwnt the hardest song(s) in this game.'
And don't get me wrong, but there's TONS of songs that I've never played on the arcade machines, simply because they're not on the home versions. (Although, it is my goal to go to the arcade one day, set a bucket of tokens down near the machine and go through every song) _________________

Yeah, so you can beat them in PA. What do they care? They can take you in all of the 10s and/or stamina draining 9s. Your analysis seems to be biased. Quantity wise, it's true. Being able to beat him in 95% of the songs IS a win, but.... when you take into account how many people can pass oh let's say Last Message vs. how many can pass PSMO... well there's a whole different story.
I slightly understand your POV though. I used to not like PAers very much. Unfortunately where I'm from, the PAers have more 1-song stamina than me. So whereas I've passed every song in the game except PSMO, they are here AAing PSMO. We sort of built respect towards each other. I can do an insane amount of 9s and 10s back to back, yet they can easily beat my score on any of them. I want to do better, yes, but I do it how I do it. I have this thing called ADDR (ADD + DDR) where I can't play slow songs because I just lose focus. I prefer adrenaline pumping fast songs. Perhaps they're this way too. |

Those people (kinda like myself) that have huge stamina but kinda bad PA would probably be people who play on their toes.... correct me if i'm wrong, but that's the exact same thing that i've encountered while playing that way. I could play DDR all day and drain my body completly of water (which i regularly do) while doing 10 footers consistently. However, that doesn't always mean my PA is that great (well, A's and B's)...

AAAing something is amazing, SDG is great but kinda a big let down because of that ONE great.... and getting A's on 10's all day are good too. These all fall into different subcategories and are great on different levels. It just depends... _________________

Ya umm greats not geats just a typo I'm sure well I've heard people calling 1 great a green flag or a black flag if its the very last one
On topic: I used to be one of those people, big stamina but often got more greats than perfects on songs but now I have a few AAA's meaning better PA _________________

You could definitely call me one of those "kids". Stamina-wise, I can take anything, and I can play for a long consecutive string without feeling tired. But I have hardly any AAs or AAAs. Like XuXa, I also play on my toes. |

Im the complete Opposite...I have GReat PA skills but i have zero stamina. I have the perfect ability to do a 10 footer but just get to tierd in the middle of the song to do it.
But Give me an 7-9 footer and ill AA the poopy out of it hahah. |

I'm completly clueless, what does SDG, PA, and FC mean or stand for?
can somebody tell me or give me a link that will tell me? thanx |
Single Digit Great
Perfect Attack(ing)
Full Combo
And XuXa, I play flatfooted (used to play on my toes, but I've learned) and I'm still not that great of a PAer. Heck, flatfootedness helps my stamina. I mean I've AA'd a few 9s but, still- I've seen people play on their toes with plenty of AAAs. |

Same here. I can go hours on end on catas and 10s, but I cant PA for crap. I play on my toes for the most part, also (unless Im super tired, then Ill start trying to play flat footed, but its hard to do that when every sport youve been in has told you never to be flat footed). Streams dont phase me, until Im running on fumes.
I can FC a few 7 and 8 footers, but thats nothing special. _________________

Single Digit Great; getting 1 to 9 greats on a song while FCing it.
The best guy around where I live passed Pandemonium Expert a little after he first got an A on PSMO. _________________

Flat-footing lets you use your quads more, which are generally stronger than your calves, and can last a lot longer stamina-wise. _________________
