only problem with ignitions is they slide like hell... i was just playing exotic ethic last night and i slide so far i couldn't see the screen... if you put them on carpet i'm sure they'll be ok... and it's best to play barefoot because the pad itself is VERY slippery with socks... but other than that great soft pad |

don't get an ignition! the buttons will start sticking and then the pad will stop working right after about a month or two. save your pennies up and get an afterburner or CF. |

I dont know what you are talking about.... Red octane is the clear 2nd best ddr controller company, next only to cobalt but thats a bit more money, simply put you get what you pay for. ignitions are by far your best bet for a softpad, they have the symptoms of softpads (sliding and such) but the RO ones will last you. As for the afterburners, once again, you get what you pay for, a $200 mat is gonna last, it will work well, better than 100 dollar mats, and worse that $300 mats. read the pad topics... |

I've been using a RO ignition 2.0 for about 6 mos. of very intense, heavy play (1-2 hrs/day) on Ultramix 1 & 2, and have not come across a single problem. If you get a RO Ignition that WORKS, then it is probably the best pad for the money, unless you build one yourself. |

My RO 2.0 Ignition pad craped out on me a few weeks ago, the up arrow stopped working. I had it foe about 5 months, and it was only Standard/little Heavy play. I bought a new RO 3.0 maybe 2 weeks ago, and its ok. The outer "shell" of the pad is bigger than the 2.0, and it has a lot of slack in it, unlike my 2.0. It miss fires sometimes, but thats not a big deal.
If you have the money, it sounds like a Afterburner or CF is the way to go. _________________

Why my current pair that I got in December are still going? An ignition is a decent pad when taken care of properly. _________________

I wouldn't call my opinion and my experience bashing, I'm sorry if I came off that way to you . There are plenty of mixed experiences with each individual pad. Personally, I prefer ignitions over most any other pad I've tried. _________________

I wouldn't call it bashing, either, but I would call it incredulous sarcastic questioning.
Were I to go by my personal experience, regular flat softpads of the sort that were made around 1999 (in particular the Dancing King) outlast any and all Redoctane pads, including the Afterburner. Then again, I'm certain that that's a fluke, as I don't see any pad striped with duct tape due to tearing lasting that long. I still don't understand how it lasted two and a half to three years, especially given my weight.
As for your experience, I think that might be a fluke, too, given that an overwhelming majority of people have failures with the Ignitions within a very short time. Though, they do seem to last a tad bit longer than TX-anything. _________________

My red octane 2.0 ignition is excellent with my PS2. but u have an xbox. dont buy the 2.0 ignition it has a bug with the xbox buy the ignition 3.0 no bugs. but i dont know about the 3.0s durability compared to the 2.0 so see what other people think. Or if you want a metal pad get a redoctane afterburner i have heard great reviews about it. |

you can buy a cobalt flux and just buy an x box converter for it somewhere else. _________________

Isn't this just a 'Which pad should I get?" thread? Aren't those against the rules? Anyway if not, I would reccommend the afterburner. I got one and it's nice. I'm sure the CF is great and all but for what it costs, when you consider an extra control box, arcade style mod kit, you are looking at over $400! The afterburner is quite solid and even though it uses copper foil, it seems to hold up pretty well. I play ITG and you know what those long songs with lots of fast steps do to pads. Softpads aren't worth the money IMO. By the time you buy it and mod the thing with plywood you have invested quite a bit of time into it. Metal pads can be fixed when they break - foil can be replaced, arrows can be replaced, wires can be re-connected, control boxes can be replaced, all for cheaper than a new softpad. The afterburner is easy to open and work with if it needs maintained. The afterburner is simply the best value if you are looking for a serious controler which has similar feel to the arcade. |

Well, the CF is much better, but the afterburner comes in second place. _________________

Make em, you can probably make two for ~$215
Homemade pads are great if you understand how they work, since you can adjust everything to your liking and repair easily. |
