Mods direct me to the appropriate thread for this question if necessary; I could not find a specific location for this question.

Some of you have opened your metal pads up and took a look at the sensor (with the wires soldered to it) - RedOctane and their eBay clones are the ones I had in mind. I was wondering what exactly those sensors are called and if it's possible to buy them separately.

Is it possible to buy larger ones to give the pads more sensitivity?

Well, there isnt a name for them really, they are a third party circuit board that i doubt you would be able to buy seperatly. However you can make larger ones if you have the right tools, all it is, is a single sided circuit board with interlocking metal paths. Nice and easy design and if you have the right tools, an acid bath and a decent plotter, than you can easily make them
