I'm sure this has been asked before, but I've been searching and I can't find it E2.gif , so please forgive me.

I've been using an old version of Stepmania for quite awhile, and to quit a song, you would hold "back". While doing this, it would say "Continue holding BACK to quit", and then it would quit. I have a CF, and I had back set to one of the buttons on my control box, and start as the bottom-right panel.

I just downloaded the newest version of SM (3.9 RC3), and noticed something peculuar. The back button still functions normally, but now when you press start during a song, it has the same functionality as back. IE: When I accidentally hit the bottom-right panel, "Continue holding START to quit" flashes.

Is there any way to fix this? I don't want to map "start" to the control box, and I'd like to retain the functionality of the old SM version. I can't even imagine why they'd change "start" like that, it doesn't really make sense to have two different buttons have the same function in a song.

Thanks for your help! (Sorry again if this has been asked a million times, I couldn't find it I swear!)

I'm not worried about the properly functioning "back" button, which isn't mapped to my pad. I would have to take the "start" button functionality off of my pad, which would mean walking over to the keyboard before the start of every song.

Which is fairly cumbersome and preferably avoidable.

I posted this on DDRManiax also, and it doesn't seem as if there is a solution. I can only hope that they add an option to disable this in future releases.

Time to downgrade to the old functional version i guess disgust.gif

Even if it does flash that, it's not like it does anything but flash the stupid words. You can deal with it, don't get so fussy. E13.gif
