I went over to his house and he hogged the konami pad, so i was stuck with the gamestop pad...

I didn't bring my modded pads over because they're a lil heavy, and well, I'm too lazy for that.

What would happen was for example: On Kick the Can Heavy, I'd go to hit left and slightly misstep and hit both left and the triangle button in the back left corner, then on the next 8th note, go to hit down, and it won't register! Similar limitations to keboards...

Any way to disable the triangle and square buttons? (Absolute garbage because they're useless in DDR!! Why Gamestop put them there is beyond me...)

Any advice?

I threw my gamestop pad back in the box once I saw the ugly thing.
I would only use it if i do the flat Soft pad mod on the DDR freak website

Yep, it's called 'Dance Play' in DDR, and it's in the options menu. Unfortunately, for some reason, this option was left out of U.S. Extreme (which is what I assume you're playing, given Kick the Can 'Heavy'.) If you have a Gameshark (I think - you know, that thing that hooks up to your PC and lets you download stuff from/to PS2 memory cards?), then you can get an Extreme save with Dance Play off, solving your problem.

Otherwise, if it's still a serious problem, I would suggest getting another DDR mix (all the others have the option in the menu) or ITG - if you were to muck around inside the soft pad, there's a good chance that it would be completely disabled.

That worked! I brought Max2 over, and it worked 100% better!!

I had never used a pad that had square or triangle before in my life, I thought it was weird to even find it there. I hope Extreme 2 has the option to turn off the buttons like Max2 does...

My 25$ gamestop pad still works. I have had it for about 6 months, and I can still AA any song up to 8 feet. Anything up to that, the pad as trouble with. Pretty good for a soft pad...
