A few (I say about 3 or 4) months ago, I've really got into DDR and ended up buying DDRMAX2 and a plain soft pad from Gamestop. So far I'm able to easily knock out the standard modes and some of heavy. And I feel I could become better and hit even more of the heavy songs if I "advance" in a level of dance pads. So right now... got $50 in my pockets and I'm thinking about buying this dance pad...

Now I've looked at the info Gamestop gave on the pad... but I don't know if I can really trust what they put. So I ask anybody whose either tried or have this pad to please give me the deeper details on how good it holds up. For example: Is it easy to slide across? Does it skid all over the floor? Or can I wear shoes using this? If anybody could give me some answers, I'd really appreciate it. Thanx in advance.

Oh and if this dance pad has already been talked about, please don't chew my head off! riiight.gif I didn't see it in that "START HERE..." thread, so just point me in the direction of the thread. Thanx again.

i've seen this pad at gamestop before. it's just an ignition-ripoff, like all the ones on ebay. however, the foam on that pad is the spongy kind, not the hard kind. go to gamestop and compare the foam with a real ignition and you'll know what i mean.
i've never played on this pad so i can't comment on its performance, but it's definitely gonna be better than the flimsy plastic pads.

I posted about this pad a few months back when I first saw it in Gamestop. Back then nobody posted saying that they had used it. I remember the price being $80 though, did they reduce it?

Yeah they reduced it... Which is why I want it. This is the cheapest, yet non-soft pad I could find. And obviously I know it isn't gonna be as good as the metal ones, but i need something to hold me off until I get a decent paying job and finally get one.

If this is the same pad I saw in Babbage’s then sales person simply said to me to stick with red-octane pad disturb.gif
Since you have PS2 game, have you checked Toy’sRUs? They also have ignition rip-off for $45 (only with PS2 connection). However, they do offer extended warranty for additional $5. I saw it a few months ago so hope they still have it.

I remember reading from another poster on this site that the Ignition rip off from Toys R Us (Intec brand) was a waste of money. I bought a $20 soft pad from them and the right arrow only works sometimes so I wouldn't trust to buy pads from them.

I'm thinking of maybe trying this pad too towards the end of the summer when I have some more money. The Xbox and PS2 connection is a big plus!

Thanx again peeps, I appreciate all the help you're giving me! *Get's all frilly inside* But seriously, the only reason I want this pad is to practice how to do the slides I'm hearing and seeing so much of. And all I'm trying ot figure out is if you can slide on the surface or not. But so far... no one here as actually tried this pad. Hopefully someone down the road will have the answers I need...

Wow, i didn't see this thread. I am going to get this pad unless told otherwise in a week. I am going to mod it and need to know whether or not it will take the same size plywood inside of it as the ignition does.
