I was thinking about some songs in ITG and wondering what they mean. Or if they have any other purpose. Such as:

- Bouff
- Xuxa
- Lemmings on the run

If anyone knows things about these, post them. Or if you have more odd song names and are wondering what they mean, post them.

Lemming is a slang or foreign term for punk/troublemaker

a "bouffe" is a type of opera with some spoken dialogue

- Xuxa (prounounced Shoe-sha) is the name of the song because the inspiration for the song is KeeL's rubber ducky whos name is, natch, Xuxa. The duck was probably named that way after a 90s hispanic singer called Xuxa (also prounounced Shoe-sha). The singer absolutely sucks so don't try to find her songs.

- Lemmings on the Run is obviously the chorus of the song but the reason for that name is that there is an animal called a lemming which apparently is very dumb and is said to jump off cliffs (however that has been proven wrong, I think). 'Lemmings' is also a slang for people that follow other blindly, and apparently Lemmings on the Run are either A) those people that follow others blindly as described in the lyrics or B) the people that oppose those people I described in A). I think the correct explanation is A) but that's just me.

- I don't know why the name Bouff was chosen. I CAN however tell you that it is prounounced like the word 'booth'.

Anubis is the god of embalming. He's an Egyptian god which sort of explains the tribal feel to the song. Zodiac is quite similar. In the background of the song there's swirls, if I recall correctly. Your zodiac sign comes from astrological figures in the night sky. If I remember, Egyptians were very in to the night sky, etc.

Not really "proven wrong", just blown out of proportion.

Lemmings aren't "stupid", but they do engage in mass migrations that sometimes result in large groups of them falling of a cliff or drowning in a river. They have a strong instinct to follow their herd, so if the lemmings at the front of the group fail to see a hazard, it's likely the ones behind them will continue to charge blindly ahead and meet the same fate. This isn't universal, of course, just something that sometimes happens when you have thousands of mammals trying to migrate in a tightly-packed group.

But the notion that lemmings are stupid and/or suicidal or that thousands of them regularly jump into the ocean and drown is the result of some misleading information.

Disney produced a movie called "White Wilderness" in 1958 that showed lemmings jumping off cliffs and into freezing rivers. Although the movie claimed to be a "documentary", they must have meant it in the Michael Moore sense of the word because it was later revealed that they'd actually bought some lemmings and chased them off of cliffs & into rivers (often on film stages) while the cameras rolled in order to get the kind of footage they wanted. So the lemmings got a bad rap that they didn't really deserve.

The popular computer puzzle game series "Lemmings" explored/exploited this idea by having the player attempt to save cute but stupid cartoon lemmings from a variety of dangers.

This doesn't have to do with lemmings per se, but since we are on the subject of strange herd behavior:
