I've bought two pads since X-mas, and (while that may not be much for some of you hardcore DDR kids) I'm sick of paying for pads already. I bought a soft pad when I first got Ultramix 2, and it worked well for a long time (until about.... a month or so ago), but then the down button stopped working right. It would work when you first started playing, but the more you hit it the less it would work. So eventually, I gave in and bought a hard foam pad off of Ebay. I played on it for about 20 minutes before the up button stopped working. This time, it doesn't even pretend to work for a little while. It doesn't respond to anyhting.
Here's the point. I'm sure someone here has tried to fix theirs. I'd really like to at least try to fix mine, if just for the thrill of cutting it open and poking it's insides.
And if I can't fix it, what type of hard foam pad should I go to next if I'm not going to be playing over standard? |

Sofar I have had good luck with a level 6 softpad I got from ebay for about 30 shipped, then I moded it using Rychan's guide : http://www.ddrfreak.com/library/contributor-article.php?postID=7836373
Only extra thing I needed to do was cut a square out of the top to fit the control box, I just used a simple flip open handsaw from walmart and it worked fine.
I have had it for about a month and it sees heavy use (3-4 hours per day by myself on light/standard, and prob a good 6-8 hours saturday by a friends on light/standard).
Oh also it raaarely moves but when it does its about an inch after something like afronova. |
