I've fixed the problem i bought a ps->usb adapter.. screw xbox for now.
Hey.
I had some trouble getting my logic3 metal pad working with my xbox through an adapter. So I decided to try a mod of a cheap xbox controller.
THANKS SINISTAR your xbox cbox mod helped me a lot when first starting this "project"
Anyway .. I have a tendency to rant on without thinking about if I am making myself understood.. I'll try to make this short and painless.
If you dont want to read what i did and would rather help me, just skip to the end where i try to explain my problem(s). Thanks in advance
<Note> cbox = controll box , for those of you that dont know already</Note>
Ok. opened everything needed on the pad and controller.
Mapped the cables in the pad and cbox.
Tried to figure out where to solder on the controller
<sidenote> I did not have prior experience with soldering, circuit boards and cables layout in general so this took some time</sidenote>
Here are some links to photos of the process which i took with my not-too-good camera.
Picture of my soldering station and misc items
This is the xbox controller <- upside-down
The pad
Cable from pad to cbox <-> cbox
Ok, so now i have to start soldering Oh well.. here goes nothing.
This is what it looked like under the second trial Left side: Tried soldering the d-pad first but didnt get any connection.( as in it did not work)
The points i decided on using a-b-x-y This works but i really want to make the d-pad, start and select buttons work too.
A different view of how i did the trials
After all my "hard" work this is how the 'pad to cbox' cable ended up.
Oh well, atleast it works
Here is a picture of logic3' own ps->xbox adapter I am showing you this for two reasons, first it doesnt really work (hence this thread).
Second because i have to have both the controller and pad-with-adapter connected to the xbox for this mod to work. I will get back to this later.
Just a picture of the controller semi-assembled
"That's it, right? riiight? evilleon? please tell me this is it... "
Sorry, bear with me a bit longer
I want to make sinistars xbox cbox mod,
but since i dont have cobalt flux i could really use some help with understanding how to check which points to use on the controller cbox and so on .
I can take any pictures needed

Ok, so here I was using the pad yesterday when suddenly the left arrow dies on me..
So what do I do? Well I check the cables and cbox and the controller for any problems, no problems there.
What i found out after some testing is that the copper plate thing (name of the plate on the following picture?) is not working on the whole of its surface area anymore.
It only works if i make contact with the solder point and the plate What I thinks is wierd is that it works if I make contact with the solder point to the left(two brown cables <- ground?) but not if i make contact with the purble solder point and the plate.
So you guessed it, I came here for some ideas If you have any ideas that might help me, feel free to post a reply.
If you read all that you deserve a cookie.
Thank you for your time!
EvilleonEdit: I changed the left copper plate with the down-left arrow since dont use it (yet) and now the pad works again.
Next problem is to find the source of the ghoststeps
EvilleonEdit2: I could REALLY use some help with the ghoststeps I am experiencing. ANY ideas at all regarding this would be great!
EvilleonEdit3: More info for those of you that might be able to help:
It seems when ever one of the cables from the controller touches the cables from the pad i get ghost steps. Maybe i have a short? how can i find out what is wrong? |
