You could jump off the mat momentarily and wait for the mines to go by. This is perfect, you still get to play, and you won't have to deal with them. And you don't even have to take the effort to turn the mines off.
It's Win-Win-Win-*cough*Lose*cough*.

No problem.

Same idea, or time your steps and height so it's like hot potato when you play.

if it's like the mines in rome0 and juli8, just jump back to the middle square and go from there.

It depends on how the mines are used in the song. For songs like The Game, I tend to jump really high to avoid the mines, but in stuff like Rome0 and Juli8, I stick to the center panel.

Jumping really high and still being able to maintain control of the song and its beat is something that can take a lot of practice to nail.

In a song like Disconnected Mobius (ex), you have to get used to a "hotfoot" style of playing, in which only one foot ever touches the pad at any given time. When you hit one of those mine-heavy sections, you should be lifting your left foot before your right foot even touches the ground, and vice-versa.

Remember December (h) is a good way to practice. During that section in the middle with long holds and mines, balance on one foot for each of those long holds, so you avoid all the mines. Use the bar if you need it to keep balance. Then, keeping that in mind, try Disconnected Mobius again.

If you keep lifting your feet and hopping to the next step, you'll avoid all the mines easily. Avoiding mines is simple with a slight modification to play style.

ok, Update (kinda)
Today:
i did disconnected mobius, avoiding them in THAT song is fun, the only that got me was the mixed up holds...
Did VerTex, .... E2.gif........THOSE mines are hard to avoid for me... i wouldve passed the song had there been no mines
As a joke to myself, i tried Pandy EX, i failed almost instantly rofl
ROM-eo & Juli8, not too bad, but hard to remember to return to center E15.gif
tis all, i believe its obvious i should keep finding ways to avoid mines.....
@%^&%# mines

I think everyone has pretty much nailed it. In Disconnected Mobius, you can kinda jump front foot to foot (I like the hot potato analogy) and just learn ho to time it. It's tricky with all the holds that they threw in there. When the mines are a little more spaced out, you can slide back to the middle and wait it out... or, in the arcade, just bar rape and "float" your steps. E4.gif

Hm, I actually find the mines quite easy to avoid in VerTex. Other than a couple of parts, it seems that you don't hit the mines as long as you hit the steps correctly. However, since the steps are fast and difficult, It's pretty understandable that you'd hit mines.

Just practice, and stick to that "hot foot" style of playing if necessary.

Find a tall chair?

Everyone seems to have got what you need to do. What i like to do is jump to any unused part of the pad (such as the center and the corner buttoms). so like if you have a left-right jump and then mines on left and right after that, just jump allitle forward or backwards off the arrows.

http://www.inthegroovegame.com/screenshots/large/28.jpg Look on the player one side near the bottom of that screenshot. That circle with the big red center is a mine. If your foot is on the panel when i croe b, i "expoe" n ou oe UGH! (keyboard functionality deteriorating badly).

Mines subtract health when hit.

They also subtract percentage from your score too.

You need a bar of some sort. As far as I can tell the point of mines is to screw over people who don't use the bar. If you're playing at home then improvise some sort of chair-bar, it will help enormously.

I've never used a bar, yet I don't have much trouble avoiding mines.
