|
|
I was cruising on ebay one day and I happened to notice a new pad that hasn't been listed yet. It calls itself the XPG-6000 and is supposed to be the successor of the tx5000-3000.
You can see it here.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=21188&item=8201494529&rd=1
MY OPINION: Now style wise, it ain't pretty. All it looks like is a tx1000 with stainless steel arrow mods, maybe cuz the manufacturer finally took into account all the consumer complaints. But function wise, I've highlighted some interesting improvements over the previous versions:
FEW FACTS
*Recessed buttons so youâll know where you are stepping at all times
*Based on the same durable construction from the award winning TX-2000 and TX-5000 metal dance pad(probably not a good thing)
*Combined with supporting handle bar
*Real Arcade size
*Built on nine-piece panels construction and ultra sensitive arrows (Maybe they adopted the possibly new wire curcuitry from the tx3000-5000.)
Anyways, I don't own a metal pad yet, but I'm willing to try out this one. I've had desicions between CF and Afterburner, but after seeing this one, I think I might like it. I'm striving for the "arcade feel". Let me know what you think.
EDIT: The more I look on ebay the more versions I see of this pad. The ones without the bars are being called tx-4000 or xpg-4000 as the ones with bars are called tx-6000 or xpg-6000. I might buy a 6000 to try it out and write a review, unless someone convinces me otherwise . |

well, i just got done with my escapade on trying to find information on metal pads, here is what i discovered
my friend drake ordered a metal pad off some random site and it seems to be doing alright, it was one with a bar but the bar was rather unstable and sinse the pad was on carpet it shaked and tilted with weight transfering to different sides, still pretty cool though
ebay seems too risky to waste that much money on, right when you get it it could callapse and i dont trust any company that only sells on ebay, truth is there are a lot of fake websites out there trying to get a piece of the DDR fever by creating their own, and i can't speak for you but i wouldnt trust em, even with a warranty ordering things online makes a b**ch for shipping things over 50 pounds<
as for the cobalt flux? sure looks great, and people seem to be pleased, but i cant force myself to earn en extra three hundred dollars away from the afterburner, I know i wanted 2 quality metal pads that I can hook together and finally get a lot better on doubles mode, truth is i would have to work for another month of the summer to order them, and I cant spare that much time OR money.
So i ordered 2 afterburners, they havent came yet but they are keeping me informed OK and the cost was money I had already earned and saved. overall, with the 20 dollar reduction code "afterburner" the price came to 460 bucks(with super savers shipping it was ordered on a sunday and I am supposed to reseave it this friday ), for two pads that looks great and by a company I am certain makes quality pads.
your choice is up to you, but I wouldn't take the risk just cause the thing has a bar... and the bar still looks unstabble sense the previous one my friend has, geh.
ill keep you guys informed on the beef about afterburner ounce i res |

you would be doing the community a big favor by giving these pads a try
they seem to be good if you need a bar, but the arrows don't really look recessed from the pictures. |

"Award-winning"? AHAHAHAHAAA!! Erm, excuse me. If by "award-winning" you mean "Award for Worst Pad Ever" I suppose that would be true. Dang, $60 for shipping? Anyway, personally I think the pad looks kinda shoddy. I probably wouldn't trust it any farther than I can throw it. XD I'm having a hard time seeing the "recessed" arrows, too, for that matter. If they're recessed, it must be like 1/16th inch or something. In fact, to me, the down and right arrows actually look raised compared to the rest of the arrows. The bar on there is nothing new. The old TX-2000 pad had a bar, and it's pretty wobbly and cheap-feeling, as I understand it. That's why it has those support brackets at the bottom. That's just my opinion and what I've heard, though. I've never played on one, but given all the bad things I've heard about the TX line, I wouldn't want to drop any significant amount of money on them. |

I got to play on a TX-5000 at E3... and if this thing is as sensitive as the TX-5000, it'll make a good paperweight. Bleh.
And... recessed? Umm, those don't look recessed at all. _________________

What I don't understand is what actual company makes the TX pads?
It seems like the only places I've been able to find them are ebay and websites that look very unprofessional. |

Okay, so I just got my pad today, I ordered 2 of them but supposabley they decided one should be later than the other.
my ps2 was at my moms house so all I've tried out so far is stepmania with the pad. I especially told them that it need to work well with the computer and xbox, but I dont know whats wrong. I will play for about 20 seconds and then my computer will just stop sensing the usb for five seconds. I'll fail missing arrows for five seconds usually hurts my health bar, and then it will start working again. It seems to sense well, but is this one of the control box issues people have been having with the afterburner of is it my PC? |

aha! it was a USB problem, I plugged it in a different usb port and it works great.
It feels just like the arcade, but the buttons dont actually press down when you hit them, they are just lower then the rest of the pad. Also no light when you hit the buttons, but other than that it looks and feels just like the arcade. I highly reccomend the Afterburner, it seems like they have got all the control box stuff sorted out, mine was fine. Although the pad itself seems to be a little...squishy when you jump on it....i kinda like it though, gives a going spring to jump.

Hey, I took your advice and I ordered an afterburner .
Until Tx decides to get serious and create higher quality metal pads rather than being the "Mad Catz" of DDR, its gonna keep losing customers like me and maniac. |

dude prolly over, my afterburner pads which are only a inch or so think are 44 lbs, think how much the arcade ones must weigh'
I think that the arcade pads would also need some serious rewireing, it'd prolly be easier to program stepmania into the machine. |
