Yeah, Actually wait...I know that Best Buy...It's in Regency, we live in the same city!
I know the supervisor for that department, I used to be his boss.
I've seen more stores do it recently, the Circuit City next door has the eyetoy games running from DDR extreme. |

Yeah, the only problem is that most stores only carry the cheapest soft pads, which makes it frustrating to play. |

A few months back, the local EB games had DDR Ultramix on display w/ Red Octane ignition pads. By the time my friend made his purchase, there was a crowd of about 30 people watching me. _________________

It seems like a very good idea to me. Think about it... you'll probably attract more attention (if nothing else, by sheer movement) than if you were playing the Metroid Prime demo. In addition to that, you'll attract the attention of the "impulse buyers," who see someone playing the game, think it's neat, see a price tage of $30-40, and decide that they might as well give it a shot. Now, if these stores offered some incentive for people to demo their games ("Hey, DDR-person, I'll give you this coupon if you come play some easy songs, but act like you're having lots of fun."), then you might have a winning marketing strategy right there.
EDIT: Note, I speak in hypothetical terms about this because no local store has set up demos like this, to the best of my knowledge. _________________

Too bad they wouldn't hire you to like come in and do a demo like once a week to attract new buyers. that would be awesome, playing ddr and getting paid. _________________

The experience on playing on a better setup than your personal one is enough for me.
Wish they put up Ultramix 2 instead of a PS2 mix. |

Sadly, my stores only have normal game demos with normal systems (GCN, PS2, Xbox, DS, GBA) However, Wal-mart once had the Eyetoy....... |

My BestBuy had Extreme when it came out. Didn't get to play it though. But yes, Getting Paid to play ddr is the perfect job. |

It seems like a stupid idea to me.Picture yourself in the shoes of a manager or employee at best buy or circuit city: having to deal with these little DDR obsessed wankers coming into the store with NO intent to buy anything whatsoever, only to mooch off of a free DDR opportunity. Talk about annoying. |

Unless, of course, the manager recognizes you as one who pre-orders every DDR game, and camps out in front of the store waiting for the delivery truck to arrive. As long as you bring some kind of business to them, they probably wouldn't mind. _________________

Yes, but how many people do that? I'm obsessed with DDR, and I've only pre-ordered extreme. |

My local Best Buy has probably had a DDR pad and game on display to be played for at least a year by now. |

I think pretty much all the Best Buys around me have DDR demos set up now. The first time I saw it, it was Max2 with two Mad Catz Beat Pads. Now that Best Buy has EX with just 1 Ignition 3.0 The Fry's just up the street from that same Best Buy also has DDR, but they rotate Max, Max2, and EX on it, and it was on a huge HDTV last time I saw it. I hope they add ITG into that rotation as well. |
