Need advice with possible long songs simfile issues

Sorry for creating a topic in advance but I have a few very specific questions which did not jump out at me using a search. First I created a stepchart for the long mix of Can be Real from disc 2 of the party collection. It works fine and all but when it shows up in the song selection wheel, there is what appears to be a blinking 'M' icon next to it. The song also consumes three 'songs' per play . Is the behavior related to the lenght, and is there an option in either stepmania, or my .sm file to control it (I want it treated like every other song)? Also I wanted to add oni steps to it and to create a supermix of Babbit's Philomel (it's like 20 minutes and I actually have the nearly impossible to get song) Does stepmania allow me to play the song with the pad connected and digitize my steps to make a stepchart (which I would then have to edit to perfect)? IIRC, a song longer than 3 minutes = long version (2 stages) and longer than 5 minutes is Marathon Stage (3 songs). Might be 6 minutes for Marathon though, I'm not sure.

Look in your stepmania.ini and you should see this:

LongVerSeconds=150.000000
MarathonVerSeconds=300.000000

So therefore, Long (2 stages) = 2 minutes 30 seconds and up. That feature was added to mimic the Long Version songs from DDR 5th Mix (one of which is about 2 minutes 40 seconds as I recall; the others are about 3 minutes).

Marathon (counts as three stages) = 5 minutes and up.

You can change your stepmania.ini if you want to disable this (just set them both to something impossibly high), but there's no way, as far as I know, to put this into your simfile (unless you piss everyone off by including a modified stepmania.ini in the .smzip when you distribute it and overwriting people's finely-tuned settings without permission).
