It depends on what you are looking for. If you want DDR, I would say go with extreme or max 2. If you are looking to get into another bemani (assuming you haven't played any others, if you have, that could affect your decision), IIDX or Pop'n is the way to go, since the others basically don't have a home version market.

If you go IIDX, personally I would suggest 8th style. Even though 9th is the newest, I feel 8th has a better list of good songs. If you go with Pop'n, go with either 10 or 8. If you get into it, then get 9. 9 Has a ton of good songs, but the difficulty curve on 9 is a lot steeper than 8 or 10.

Edit: Completely forgot about a website riiight.gif. play-asia.com should have most, if not all of the stuff I mentioned. I've ordered from them on multiple occasions, and I've been satisfied with their service.

DDREXTREME is the best home mix (DDR), without a doubt.

If you turn the unlock system off, and then just play a hell of a lot, stuff will get unlocked anyway... but ONLY if you turn the unlock system off. frown.gif It sucks if you've been playing with the unlock system on for a long time before learning that.

If you're getting DDR, I suggest getting in this order: Extreme, Third Mix, Max 2. Those have a lot of replay value (especially third mix). When I was playing at home, I found myself playing a lot more of the earlier versions like Third, Fourth and Fifth.

I also have Keyboard Mania II and enjoy playing that a lot. Don't bother getting KBM 1st Mix unless you just want to add to your collection.

Yeah, now can get those other DDR Games, DDR Festival, or Party Collection; the versions not available here.

By the way, how can you get DrumMania or Keyboard Freaks for US PS2?
Either where, like in stores. (Note I live in WA)

If you want DDR, get Extreme US or Festival. Don't get Party Collection unless you really, really want to play PARANOiA Respect.

For IIDX, get 6th, 8th, or 9th. 6th has a pretty good variety of songs and has Drill Mode for learning how to play.

As for pop'n music, get 8, 10, or wait for 11.

EDIT: Keyboardmania (not Keyboard Freaks) and Drummania PS2 are pretty hard to find. Try Play-Asia (link in my signature), but I'm not sure they have them.

Great...where were you when I got 7th a couple weeks back for my shiny new IIDX controller? E10.gif (Although, I do actually like it so far...I can pass all the Beginner songs and even a few on Light7 (mostly stuff I recognize from DDR and so know the rhythms, but still...).)

Play-Asia is sold out of DrumMania games (including pre-owned, but somethin you SHOULDNT trust devil.gif ) the last time I checked.
Doesn't even have the controllers, but now I know where to find the game. E15.gif

I wonder if theres a USA version, because I don't have a modchip or a disc for it. disturb.gif frown.gif

If there isn't, Japan will release it someday.... biggrin.gif

Why does everyone dislike PnM 9? I suggest going with 8 or 9. 10 is alright but the only good songs are the unlocks.

Pop'n 9 is good, but it doesn't have the same high Great songs: Bad songs ratio of 8 and 10.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]
