If you clicked on this, you're either curious, or a modwhore. I've been noticing a fad recently, which is people go to any random thread and announce, "PMing Mod", even if the thread needs not be locked. If you're going to modwhore, follow these simple rules:

1: Do it to be constructive, not for the power. I'd like to name a few names of people who "PM Mod" because it feels good.

2: If someone disobeys rule three and announces that they already PMed a mod, you don't need to also.

3: If you're PMing a mod, you don't need to announce it to the thread. The reason they lock threads is because it wastes bandwidth. By announcing that you're PMing a mod, you're just wasting bandwidth.

4: This never, ever, EVER helps: "OMG THIS NEEDS A LOCK frust.gif frust.gif frust.gif ". This is deconstructive for so many reasons. First of all, moderators don't see "OMG THIS NEEDS A LOCK" instantly. Secondly, you're still wasting bandwidth. Third, the exessive use of emoticons wastes more bandwidth, not to mention makes you look like an idiot. Fourth, it BUMPS THE TOPIC. All in all, this helps the thread stay alive.

5: Unless a rule is blatantly being broken, or if it is incredibly similar to a sticky, don't PM; the mods can do their job.

6: Don't do this:
Someone, on the subject of most used arrow wrote:
Okay this page is stupid but I'll answer anyway Left arrow.
OK> Now that that's settled I'm gonna PM this for stupidity.
.
Contributing to the thread will cause further discussion.

7: You're not a moderator, don't act like one.

In conclusion, helping the mods is fine. But this most recent fad's not helpful.
