Option 1: Get a Flux and play the hardest songs as many times as you can before you collapse, repeat.
Option 2: Don't play anything under an 8 footer, home or arcade.
Option 3: Since it might be that you can't read arrows right, play at home with these mods: 2x, Boost, Flat, and Dark (not sure about this). Eventually, you will read the arrows easier when playing like that, and normal arrows will be really easy to read.
Option 4: If it's stamina, go for the longest songs and hardest songs in the home and arcade. Always make sure to play a 10 footer for final stage, EVERY TIME.
Option 5: If it's both, go to your local arcade on a day when nobody is around, and play only 9-10 footers, using 1.5x and Flat. Don't worry about failing, no one is watching.
Good luck!!! |

I can read arrows well, it's just my stamina and foot speed that needs buildup. Thanks for your help! _________________

What I do is use stepmania.....you need to practice the beat again in your head. Use stepmania to see the steps of the songs that you want, then play it with the arrows with claps and note, then play it without claps but note, then play it normally, then step your feet to it but don't worry about direction (step your feet left and right continuously to the beat), then practice the whole thing with claps and note, then do it with only note, then do it normally, then do it at the arcade and show off when you have it down....
It's a gradual process. I got A on MAX300 this way....it takes a lot of practice. AT LEAST 3 times each step.
And don't listen to everyone else and just jam on the song over and over at 8X....think of it as exercising. Who lifts 300 lbs after missing a month at the gym? Not one person. It's just an exercise. _________________

Thank you for being a helpful contributor to the thread.
TP, the only advice I can give revolves around this question: How is your PA? I know this may seem weird, but this is how it has gone with me... As I've played, I've recently tried to improve on my stamina, which, quite frankly, sucks. It's really an uphill battle, for some reason. Well, I've played a lot of 6-7 footers and some 8-footers, trying to get low scores on them, and getting really tired along the way. However, as I continued to improve, my stamina seemed to get better as well. I continued to play over and over, simply trying to PA easier heavy songs. Now, I can play multiple 9-footers, such So Deep and ska a go go, in the same set. It's not really very impressive, but for this case, it can really help. This seems like an odd tactic, but it really improved my playing ability, so perhaps it can help you as well. |

Quoted for truth. I play PSMO without breaking a sweat, now.
If you don't have an ITG nearby, play 9 or 10 footers nonstop. Push yourself to the limit. If you feel like you're going to throw up right there, just stop playing and try to hold it in. _________________

I'm jumping on the bandwagon and agreeing with this wholeheartedly(sp?)
ITG does not have as many songs as DDR, but they are longer, more foot intense, and you won't believe the mods there are unless you've played the machine. _________________

This topic probably belongs in gameplay. That being said, I would make sure you focus on building stamina and not passing songs. Forget the arcade, it is a waste of time - you will either have to do songs that are easier (and hence less of a workout) or you will fail and get a shorter workout and waste money. Play hard songs at home and set the machine to fail at the end of the song, continue playing even after you fail. Alternatively it has been suggested that you go outside, sprint for 1 minute then jog at a moderate pace for 4, repeating this 4 times (20 mins total). Do the sequence 2x3 times a day and your stamina should improve. When it gets easy, switch to a 2 min sprint and a 3 min jog. Haven't tried it, but I have tried the fail at end thing and it does help. |

OK ,it's me again, anyways, thanks for all your help, no, I don't have access to ITG, but I should be able to build stamina up some other way. I'll just start playing again(Not that I ever REALLY STOPPED ). This topic might belong in gameplay...sorry about that. _________________

Thanks for supporting my ability SO very much! |
I'm sorry , I wasn't feeling too hot that day. I must've forgotten that it took me months of playing maxx to get even close to clearing it. Keep going at it , you'll get it and will probrably be better than me soon enough. |
