|
I have been working on a new video game for the TI-83 Plus, TI-83 Plus Silver Edition, TI-84, TI-84 Plus, and TI-84 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculators. Of course it will not have sound, but It should turn out good in the end. Here are some screen shots:
It will be programmed in assembly language (which is hard and it sucks ). I wanted to get your opinions, and possibly even suggestions to make the game better. |

That looks pretty cool. No sound sucks but I've never heard that thing make any noise except the cover snapping on. That should get me through alot of bad classes tho _________________

I can't wait to find a friend who gets this and still has the link cable to their calculator. Mine dissapeared and I'm broke so I'm not gonna but the cable to get it from the computer. _________________

I'm quite impressed by what I see so far. You have a combo counter, energy bar, and even freeze arrows in place. I don't have a graphic calculator but I'd love to try this if I did.
And you're coding the game in Assembly? Damn, I find that REALLY impressive. Assembly drives me nuts. Trying to get an Assembly program to even output text feels like building a skyscraper out of toothpicks. |

The freeze arrrow and scrunched up 8th and 16th notes are simply an example. There have been a few other DDRs (including a BASIC version I made sometime back), but this is the first with a lifebar, first to have the entire scale ranging from Perfect to Miss, the first to have 8th and 16th notes, the first to have freeze arrows, and the first to have DDR shaped arrows. I have started making it like a week ago, and I guess you can see the source code if you want to (even though its just for titles and menus at the moment).
Source Code
And this is the DDR I wrote in BASIC, so it isn't all that special...

To reduce confusion, I am currently CREATING the game, and coding assembly takes forever. I don't know when you can expect me to be done, but I do still need a song list.
I have what I think will be cool:
Max 300
So Deep
Matsuri Japan
Afronova
Silent Hill
(Hopefully with all difficulty levels)
Something with too many speed changes might make the programming even more difficult, but I can try anything!
Tell me what songs you want me to make!!! |

Are you going to try to implement speed mods? If you want to make things easier, you can always use constant speeds (ie... like a C mod) to avoid speed change problems. ... Of course, DDR doesn't have C mods, but it'll sure make the programming easier. Just a suggestion. _________________

Songs like MaxX Unlimited have slow and fast parts and stuff. Making speed change in the middle of a song isn't so fantastic, but I think I know how I can do it, because I think the easiest way to display the arrows and such is to read a line of data that represent arrow patterns, and I will make my program recognize commands changing speed, but I guess it is worth the hassle. Wow, that was a run-on sentence... |

I'm only an 8th grader right now, so hopefully the game will be finished by the time i need to use a graphing calculator like that... How exactly are you supposed to put games on the calculator? I have no idea how to do any of that. |

All the calculators that this game is compatable with has a nifty little link port at the bottom or top of the calculator. You can get programs from other people or even your computer (which will be necessary if you want to download this when it is done). I'm confident that it will be done by next year. It will probably be done within the month.
And I have no idea which calculator you will need for freshman year. I'm a freshman, but I was smart and they decided to put my two years ahead into Algebra 2/Trigonometry Honors, so I don't know. |

IDK about where it's needed but in New York if you are at the normal pace you need one our freshman year for the Intro to Math A class. I've had mine since 8th grade since I took it a year early (and failed it lol) _________________

You CAN implement sound into a Ti-Calc but it's pretty difficult. I've seen one game with sound with it. You gotta get an adaptor to be able to fit regular headphones though and even then it's usually mono sound. |

Too bad all I have currently is a TI-36X solar, but luckily I can buy some time since it isnt finished. I have much too learn. By the time Im' in my Freshman year ill pry need one of those calcs. Im in next years its too algebra 1, then hopefully by 9th ill be in super advanced math. (high school math in 7th grade is fun!!! WOOO HOOO!!! ) so that gives me bout 1.1 years to go...I think _________________
