|
|
I noticed that a lot of people are trying to find lyrics for such songs as Jane Jana, Afronova, and many others. Does anyone know where to find ACTUAL originals, such as the original Japanese Folk song that Matsuri Japan is based on, or the original "tribal" sounding song Afronova.
Just curious. |

The only one that I know of is Revolutionary Etude (Kakumei's original). I only know this cause it's on flash flash revolution and I recognized it right away when I played it. Other then that no I haven't looked for anything else. _________________

Afronova isn't based on anything.
There are some DDR songs that have long versions or are remixes, but you have to realize that most of the songs in DDR were made for Bemani games and nothing else. A few that are remixes though...
V Remixed from part of Vivaldi's Four Seasons
Kakumei A remix of the Revolutionary Etude (already mentioned)
Sakura Yet again, mentioned... a remix of a Japanese folk song
Most anything else that has a longer version falls into one of three catagories:
a) It's a license (So Deep, Drifting Away, Ghosts, anything Captain Jack, etc...)
b) The long version is a fan remix that came AFTER the KO (a good example is Max300 Hardcore Extended Mix)
c) It's a very slightly longer version that's from IIDX (V, A, Frozen Ray, Colors... anything that says, "For EXTREME" after it, basically).
With the vast majority being licenses. |

I don't think Matsuri Japan and Afronova are based on any sort of original folk song. My guess is they're just Naoki originals created by making some random fast songs with various rhythms and royalty-free sound libraries to give them an ethnic flavor. |

The Reflex is an actual Duran Duran song (it just has a segment used for DDR), and Ordinary World was originally by Duran Duran. Saint Goes Marching is a remix of When the Saints Go Marching In, which is an old classical song (sorry, don't know artist info...). Dream a Dream is a remix of Edvard Greig's In the Hall of the Mountain King. Kakumei, which has already been mentioned, is a remix of Chopin's Etude No. 10 (Revolutionary). Burning Heat! and Gradiusic Cyber are both remixes of music from the game Gradius. I know there are others, as well, but I cannot think of them right now. Hope this helps... _________________

To be more specific, I believe V is from Vivaldi's Winter. |

it's probably worth mentioning that alot of the "artists" off of ddr are just doing a cover of the actual song mentioned... most likely so that they could do a version that fits within the span of 1:30
you might think this is obvious, as songs like "we will rock you", "la copa la vida", and other well knowns don't have their original artists singing it.
but this is probably also the case for the more obscure songs like Jane Jana... that is, if they were ever "original songs" beforehand.
i don't know about you, but i don't even notice if it the song has the "konami original" (or similar) banner before i play anymore; that'll probably give some hints. _________________

You guys are forgetting that Orian78 came from the very old Okina Shamisen song (I don't know the name but I'm sure that there are song very similar to it)
Oh yeah! Sobakasu Freckles: DDR English version of Rurounin Kenshin main opening performed by Judy & Mary
Yozora no Mukou: English version from a popular group in japan, SMAP except they both sound different but same singing style.
My Sweet Darlin: Originally all in Japanese
Lupin the Third 78: We all should know that's the name of a famous anime show!
Rhythm & Police KOGG3 mix: based on the theme song of a famous Japanese movie (I forgot the name!) with no rapping and dance beat. _________________

I recall someone saying Furuhata's Theme came from a Japanese detective show.
The original Hot Limit had Japanese lyrics and was done by T.M. Revolution.
Did The Earth Light originate from Zone Of The Enders? I remember it was one of the songs available in Versus mode, but did it first appear in ZOE, or BM/DDR?
Together and Forever by Captain Jack shares the same tune as the Mickey Mouse March.
Is Mahou no Tobira from an anime? The subtitle is "Theme of Space Maco", but what is Space Maco?
Long Train Runnin' was originally by the Doobie Brothers, if I'm not mistaken.
Speed Over Beethoven resembles Fur Elise.
So Fabulous So Fierce is a cover of Freak Out by Le Chic. (I think that's the artist's name...)
Betcha can't guess where The Theme From Enter The Dragon came from. _________________

I believe that the original version was actually by Suga Shikao before SMAP had a hit with it; he's credited for either the music or the lyrics in the DDRMAX soundtrack booklet. (More details in other post here.) _________________

I think the show actually WAS called Rhythm & Police.
And I know I'm being unnesisarily specific, but V's based on Winter Movement 1 (Vivace, I believe). It's one of my favorite songs, and it's VERY hard to play on the violin.
(they should remix the 3rd movement) _________________

Nah. The cop show is called, "Bayside Shakedown." In regards of Ninzaburo, believe it or not, the show which it originates is actually called "Furuhata Ninzaburo."
Also, as for some more data:
Gotcha! (4thMIX) -- Starsky & Hutch
Kakumei (MAX2/IIDX 7th Style OMES; yes, Kakumei's a DDR Original & EVEN DJ TAKA said it himself!) -- Revolutionary Etude
Kick the Can -- I'm pretty sure it's from another classical piece; I don't know from which one.
Gyruss~Full tilt (from UM2) -- Tocatta and Fugue in D minor (courtesy of CyricZ)
Hypnotic Crisis -- remix of Naoki's Hypnotica from GFdm.
TEARS -- supposed to be a remake of L'Amour et la Liberte from IIDX.
Sakura -- originally from IIDX 8th Style, it was purportedly a Japanese folk redux of MAXX Unlimited.
PS: Zanneth, for future reference, please do remember that the term "DDR Original" specifically means "songs specifically made for DDR, and not crossovers from other Bemani games." _________________
BeForU was easily the heart and soul of DDR, until someone in Konami thought that it's a threat to the current structure (read: Konami's blatant overfunding of IIDX/pop'n). |
