Well today my dear friend who is the president of our class approached me asking me to enter in the talent show, my talent is DDR obviously or I wouldn't post here. Now I'm no pro but I can do a good deal of 9 footers and 2 10s. However this is playing in the arcade, and sometimes being a bar-rapist. Since I can't get a machine to my school, my friend is donating his cobalt fluxes and I'm bringing my computer w/ Stepmania. My question for you is, do you have any suggestions on songs I should do to imprses people that aren't ridiculous and I can try mastering without the bar over the next week. I have like 700 stepfiles so almost anything you name I'd probably have.
Btw just to name some songs @ arcade I can do:
Can't Stop falling in love speed mix
Saints go Marching
Drop Out
Irresistablement
Paranoia Rebirth
A (Challenge)
Era
Matsuri Japan
Tsugaru
Sakura

*can not do:

cartoon heroes
healing vision angelic mix
exotic ethnic
dxy
so deep (can pass if i really try)
any other extreme 9s or 10s

You can do Sakura and Drop out but not Cartoon Heroes or Exotic Ethnic!?? This is gonna be a heck of a talent show then.

Tsugaru is a fun song to do on heavy. The gallops are what make it fun. You could do that and some hardcore songs for a variety of moves.

Cowgirl XD

But maybe you should try to freestyle something on light/standard?

Playing Cowgirl on heavy in the arcades is my guilty pleasure! lol It's so fun to do the gallops. I am trying to memorize the steps so I can look away from the screen.

Speak of the devil! Cowgirl just started playing on DDR Radio.

So in front of a ton of students you're going to play a video game?

I should have played Halo for talent shows at my school.

I'll try practicing drop out and so deep without a bar on sunday when im home from dallas. I'm going to ask the person in charge how our setup will be and how much time we will have.

I may actually do cow girl cause I have no problem making a fool of myself making my gallops huge and making a lasso motion. Plus it is really easy on heavy for me so I would barely need to practice it with or without a bar. I want to try doing CSFILSM, but that will recquire more practice since I'm so used to holding onto the bar with one hand. So Deep I would rather not try just cause my score would be like a C or B at best.

And about Halo...Watching someone playing a shooting game is not as much to watch or impressive as DDR. At least DDR recquires physical effort, and u can put on a show with it.

If you freestyle that's one thing, but if you're playing the game for a group of people who don't know what's going on, AAAing a song would mean nothing to them. Even if you tell them "I got a perfect on every step" they still wouldn't know exactly what that means.

And some people might find watching a shooting game or an action game or surivival horror game more fun or impressive than DDR. Good ol' opinions.

Shuffling around on four (or eight) panels isn't going to get any approval from anybody, especially in this case.

hmmm IMO all of those are pretty easy..... If you really wanna impress the crowd, i would do like.. PSM or PSMO.. or some hard 10.... or create a freestyle routine, so you can get the crowd into it

You should definitly freestyle...because other people that don't play won't really understand what's going on.

Freestyle is the only way to go if you're gonna do DDR for a talent show. Your act will be overshadowed by everyone else's act if all you're doing is generically stepping on arrow pads.

I can use one of my old FS routines, but since I'm going to be out of town wednesday-saturday and during next school week I can't practice much it still would be hard. If I spend all of my sunday I could probably learn to pass PSM or Max300, but it wouldn't be worth it.

Other routines are like poopy stand up comedy.

Do Candy*. It's fast and poppy and you can throw a spin in the middle of it in the quarters before the chorus comes up before the last time.

Have fun with it. I just won a talent show recently and though I didn't do DDR as a talent (though the thought briefly crossed my mind) an audience will respond to something when it looks like the performer is having fun.

Give the audience something they can have fun with and you'll do well.

And if Candy isn't your thing, put Shuffle on Tsugaru and do spin gallops...that just looks cool.

hmm I'll try your idea on Tsgaru shuffle, thanks for the idea. The talent show isn't for prizes, just an opportunity for our senior class to do some last bonding before we go off to college. I'm going to find out how many songs I'll be able to do tomorrow. I'd prefer do fast songs with simple steams where without a bar I do fine. If I could do HV:AM I would since it is impressive.

Friendly suggestion: Take your favorite song from DDR and record it to a tape or something. Then Freestyle without the game. It would be probably be viewed as dancing to a song they never heard or never thought you would choose. My friend reproduced V for Extreme on his violin for a concert.
