Dance pad cover?

All right, so I've been looking into getting a dance pad cover. I have problems with the arches of my feet, so I have to wear proper support shoes whenever I'm doing exercise, like DDR. I read about Red Octane's dance pad cover, and figured that was what I needed. Problem being, I can't order off the internet, and the local game stores I've called said they don't carry it. However, I spoke to one salesperson that reccomended going to an office store and picking up one of those mats that they use under rolling chairs to prevent marks on the floor instead of the pad cover, since it's hard to find. Do you think using the chair mat instead would harm my current dance pad?
